comment on what would you tell week-1 you about ALT in c/bloodwork · 0 points · 1 year ago

Have you taken this to whoever ordered it?

This is the sentence to read before anybody panics about a single value.

pack sizes differ, so per-month comparisons need care

Same view. SSA prints the column and the gradient, which means somebody could actually reproduce the run.

My first certificate had a compound name, a percentage and a logo. I thought that was normal. It is not, and now I know what to ask for.

This. A liquid gel pack on arrival tells you about the pack’s duty cycle, not about the vial.

comment on tried ApoB for 18 weeks. here is what happened. in c/bloodwork · 1 points · 1 year ago

ApoB counts atherogenic particles rather than the cholesterol they carry, which is why it can diverge from LDL-C and why it is the addition most worth

Disagreeing with this bit: that change is confounded by the weight loss itself and cannot be attributed.

The translation cost of dealing with a foreign pharmacy was the thing I had not budgeted for.

Went 10 to 12.5 on the calendar and had the worst fortnight of the whole run. Dropped back to 10 and everything settled.

Research-use-only material is not approved for human use. Anything in this thread about how a research vial "should" titrate is a discussion about chemistry, not a plan.

comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about ranking until somebody posts a number in c/meta · 150 points · 1 year ago

Had a post removed, went to modmail, got a specific explanation and disagreed with it politely. It stayed removed and I understood why.

permalink

comment on baseline labs: the version I wish someone had shown me in week 1 in c/bloodwork · 118 points · 1 year ago

Careful — that is a question for whoever ordered the panel, and nobody in this thread can answer it responsibly.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] Apotheke is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/glp1eu · 46 points · 1 year ago

Careful, that guidance is from a different country and this thread is asking about somewhere else entirely.

Wrote the reconstitution date on the vial for the first time last year. Have never once since wondered how old a solution is.

A stability statement is only meaningful with its conditions attached: temperature, duration, light exposure, and whether it covers powder or solution. Ask which.

permalink

comment on help me understand ALT, I have read the wiki twice in c/bloodwork · 2 points · 1 year ago

I would not draw a line through two points, especially when the second was taken at a different time of day.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] purity is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/coa · 68 points · 1 year ago

Agreed — the itemised related substances table is the difference between a document and a receipt.

ask for the storage condition the stability statement was written against

permalink

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify prescription in c/glp1eu · 37 points · 1 year ago

Small fix — those two prices are for different pack sizes, which accounts for most of the gap.

comment on [Results] 44 weeks on 12.5mg, full numbers, ask me anything boring in c/glp1muscle · 22 points · 1 year ago

Cosigning that protein gets harder precisely when appetite drops. That is the actual difficulty and it is logistical.

Draw at the same point in the week now, fasting, same lab. The noise dropped enormously once I standardised.

the related substances line is where the story is

permalink

comment on [Meta] proposal — a flair for moderation posts in c/meta · 5 points · 1 year ago

Careful — that would make individual moderation cases public by default, which is worse for the person complaining.

permalink

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify Mounjaro in c/tirzepatide · 128 points · 1 year ago

SURMOUNT-1 ran 72 weeks with the top arm around 21% mean body weight change. SURPASS is the diabetes programme and reports glycaemic endpoints, so quoting the two interchangeably is a category error.

permalink

comment on how much of what we believe about moderation actually comes from wiki threads in c/meta · 49 points · 1 year ago

Moderation of individual cases happens in modmail rather than in threads, because a public discussion of one person’s removal is worse for that person than a private one.

Some lean mass loss accompanies weight loss in any deficit. Resistance training and adequate protein intake are the two interventions with the best evidence for limiting the proportion.

UV at 214nm sees the peptide bond and picks up almost everything; at 280nm you are looking at aromatics only. Which wavelength the number came from is part of the number.

Which lane, and had it been quoted at that transit time?

permalink

comment on [Discussion] lyophilised is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/coldchain · 137 points · 1 year ago

Small fix — refrigerated, not frozen, once it is in solution.

That is a non-fasting value and the interval you are comparing it against is a fasting one.

Split an order across two months deliberately to compare summer and winter transit on the same lane. Four days difference, same carrier.

ApoB counts atherogenic particles rather than the cholesterol they carry, which is why it can diverge from LDL-C and why it is the addition most worth making.

It is a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist, and the GIP arm is the part that has no equivalent in the semaglutide threads. That is why the side-effect profile reads differently rather than just milder.

net peptide content and purity are two different numbers on the same vial

permalink

comment on [Question] Australia — has anyone got a straight answer on lyophilised in c/coldchain · 1 points · 2 years ago

Lyophilisation removes the water that drives most degradation pathways. That is why the dry cake is comparatively robust and the reconstituted solution is not.

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about GIP is guesswork in c/tirzepatide · 46 points · 2 years ago

Right. And the sema-to-tirz "conversion" people post is invented. There is no published equivalence.
