Came off deliberately and slowly. Regain was 4kg, not 24. Method matters.

stretching the interval is not the same as reducing the dose

Weekly dosing again, half-life in the same neighbourhood as sema, so a step change takes about a month to reach steady state. Judging a new step at day five is judging noise.

jonas_cardoso is right that milligram comparisons across classes tell you nothing.

Adding the standing caveat — unapproved, and research material is not for human use.

daily dosing, not weekly, so the exposure profile is different

The thing nobody warned me about was how much of this is logistics — storing it, remembering it, the same day every week.

The 21% figure is a 72-week mean on the highest arm. Quoting it as what someone should expect by week 10 is not a fair reading.

Agreed. Lowest effective dose is the actual maintenance question and it gets almost no airtime next to the escalation threads.

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify goal weight in c/maintenancephase · 52 points · 1 year ago

Dose reduction and interval extension are different interventions.

maintenance_mode_max is right that stretching and reducing are different levers. Worth separating in every one of these threads.

Pointing the clinical part of this at somebody qualified. The experience part can stay here.

Retitled — this is maintenance, not a plateau, and the original framing was doing damage.

That reads like a taper schedule and this board cannot hand those out.

Same experience with the appetite effect being flatter across the week rather than front-loaded.

On comparing yourself with the trial number.

SURMOUNT-1 reported roughly 21% mean body weight change at 72 weeks on the highest arm. Three things get dropped every time that figure is quoted here. It is a mean, and the distribution around it is very wide. It is 72 weeks, which is a year and a half. And it is a trial population with trial support, which is not the same as a person with a spreadsheet.

Use it as a rough shape, not a benchmark. A 12% year is inside the ordinary range and people quit over it every week on this board.

Careful — a dose reduction plan is a conversation with someone who knows your history, not a board consensus.

Agreed — and the exposure lag means the first fortnight tells you almost nothing.

a fortnight of nothing is not evidence that you are fine

What the evidence says about stopping, written plainly because the framing does real damage.

Withdrawal studies across this class consistently show substantial regain after discontinuation. Appetite typically returns first, well before weight changes. This is a finding about the pharmacology of a chronic condition, in the same way that blood pressure rises again when an antihypertensive is stopped.

People on this board quit in shame over an entirely predictable result, and then avoid coming back because they have interpreted it as a personal failure. It is not. Knowing that in advance is the single most useful thing this board can offer anybody planning to stop.

What is actually known, and what is being assumed.

Known: it is a small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist, dosed daily, with clinical programmes reporting in both obesity and type 2 diabetes. Its tolerability profile broadly resembles the class in the data published so far.

Assumed, frequently and confidently: that milligram comparisons with injectables mean something, that adherence is straightforwardly better because it is a tablet, that peptide purity discussions transfer to it. None of those hold. And nothing containing this compound is approved anywhere, which makes research-use-only material exactly that — not approved for human use.

2.5mg is a four-week starting dose, not a maintenance dose. Worth being precise since people search these threads.

Right.

Not sure about this bit. The GIP arm being real does not tell you that it is what caused your particular week.

This matches mine. Milder injection-site soreness than I expected, and what there was settled inside a fortnight of each step.
