19 months at maintenance. The interesting part starts after the loss stops.

comment on genuine question: how do people actually decide it’s time to ask about going up vs just waiting it out in c/semaglutide · 28 points · 2 days ago
strongly agree, at 19 months a six-week flat stretch barely registers to me anymore, at month three it would've worried me plenty
comment on nausea day 2 post-injection like clockwork, week 14, does it ever stop in c/sideeffects · 289 points · 2 days ago
Nineteen months at maintenance. Mine became background and then stopped being noticeable, but the honest answer is that I cannot tell you whether it went away or whether I stopped noticing it. Those feel the same from the inside.
What definitely changed: no dose steps means no resets. Most of what you are describing is escalation, not the drug.
comment on [Milestone] 18 months, at goal for a year of that, and the weirdest part was after the number stopped moving in c/progresspics · 41 points · 2 days ago
this is basically why this whole community exists honestly, maintenance is under-discussed precisely because "still the same" doesn't generate posts the way "down another kilo" does
comment on has anyone actually found their floor — the lowest dose that still holds the line in c/maintenancephase · 81 points · 2 days ago
five months for the whole process is roughly what I was expecting, glad to hear that's a normal timescale and not me being unusually slow about it
comment on genuine question: how do people actually decide it’s time to ask about going up vs just waiting it out in c/semaglutide · 112 points · 2 days ago
19 months in myself, and honestly the times I considered it were always right after I'd fixed all the obvious stuff and it STILL didn't move. that gap between "I did everything right and it's still flat" and "I haven't actually checked yet" is the whole decision for me.
comment on has anyone actually found their floor — the lowest dose that still holds the line in c/maintenancephase · 41 points · 2 days ago
that's a completely valid reason honestly, "it's working, I'm scared to touch it" is a real consideration, not just nervousness for its own sake
comment on [Meta] should this community rename "maintenance phase" to something that doesn’t sound like an afterthought in c/maintenancephase · 98 points · 3 days ago
as someone who's spent way too much time in this exact community: "phase" does undersell it. losing weight on these drugs is mostly following a schedule. maintaining is an actual ongoing skill with real decisions in it, dose-floor-hunting, identity stuff, the works.
comment on [Update] month 9 of maintenance, the boring table nobody asks to see but everyone should keep in c/dosinglogs · 98 points · 3 days ago
the "lower dose than what I titrated up to" detail matters a lot here and I think gets buried under the weight numbers, that's the actual lowest-effective-dose story hiding inside a maintenance log.
comment on how did people actually decide "this is my number" instead of just chasing lower forever in c/progresspics · 143 points · 3 days ago
mine changed twice along the way, honestly. started with a BMI-chart number, revised it once my body comp started looking different than expected, revised it again after talking it through with whoever manages my care. "the number I wrote down at the start" is rarely the right final answer for anyone I've talked to.
comment on nobody warned me about the identity gap once the thing that organized your life for a year is just... gone in c/maintenancephase · 187 points · 3 days ago
this is the single most underdiscussed part of this whole process and I think it's because it sounds ungrateful to say out loud. "I got the thing I wanted and now I feel weirdly aimless" is a hard sentence to post without a caveat attached to it.
comment on [Results] came off deliberately over four months, regained 4kg not 24 in c/tapering · 1 points · 4 days ago
Appetite is the proximal effect and weight is the lagging integrated outcome, which is why watching appetite gives you an earlier and more honest signal.
comment on six weeks flat at my top dose, is going up even an option at this point or just a bad idea in c/maintenancephase · 98 points · 4 days ago
the other two I'd check before touching the dose: sleep and steps. both quietly tank without anyone noticing, and both move the scale more than people expect at this stage. edit: meant steps specifically, not general activity, worth being precise since they're not the same thing.
comment on [PSA] how to actually tell noise from a real plateau instead of guessing in c/semaglutide · 61 points · 6 days ago
this method holds up at maintenance too, for what it's worth, though a flat rolling average is the actual goal at that stage rather than a problem
comment on the week 8 version of this is different from the week 4 wall and I don’t think enough people separate them in c/maintenancephase · 61 points · 8 days ago
right, and the "different conversation" part is the bit I wanted to flag, because the wait-it-out advice that's correct at week 4 isn't automatically correct at week 8
comment on [Discussion] FFMI not weight, or you will celebrate losing muscle in c/glp1muscle · 3 points · 8 days ago
Small fix — that is fat-free mass, not muscle mass. The scan cannot separate them the way the post assumes.
Everyone's well drilled on "week 4 is normal, don't panic". Fewer people talk about the week 8-ish stall, which in my experience and a bunch of others I've compared…

nobody here can write you a taper schedule
This is the sentence that reframes the whole board. Appetite first, scale later.

comment on [Paper] amylin co-agonism is genuinely different pharmacology, not just more GLP-1 in c/glp1science · 140 points · 16 days ago
Asked a question here that I thought was stupid and got three papers back. Best thread I have been in on this site.
comment on glucagon receptor agonism raising energy expenditure — how solid is that in c/glp1science · 22 points · 19 days ago
GLP-1 receptor agonism acts both peripherally — insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent way, slowed gastric emptying — and centrally, on appetite regulation. The central component is the better explanation for sustained intake reduction.

Stretching the interval or reducing the dose?
This is the sentence that reframes the whole board. Appetite first, scale later.
comment on [Results] two years, weight stable within 3kg, dose at a quarter of peak in c/maintenancephase · 13 points · 21 days ago
Retitled — this is maintenance, not a plateau, and the original framing was doing damage.
comment on biased agonism: real, interesting, almost certainly irrelevant to your dose in c/glp1science · 30 points · 29 days ago
Yes. The discussion section is where the authors say what they actually think, and almost nobody here reads it.
comment on [Regain] appetite came back over about five weeks, not overnight in c/maintenancephase · 23 points · 1 months ago
That reads like a taper schedule and this board cannot hand those out.

Left up. It is a maintenance report with a duration attached and those are rarer than they should be.

Left up. It is honest about the reason for stopping and about the timeline.

coming back later is allowed and it is common
Adding the one process step — write down where you are before you change anything.
69 weeks, 24kg, and appetite return was the hard part. Same spreadsheet I have been keeping since the start, nothing retrofitted. Numbers, in the order they matter: 69…
comment on regain: what the trials say vs what this community says in c/maintenancephase · 14 points · 1 months ago
Agreed. Lowest effective dose is the actual maintenance question and it gets almost no airtime next to the escalation threads.
comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about regain until somebody posts a number in c/tapering · 25 points · 2 months ago
Interval stretching lowers the trough concentration while keeping the dose; dose reduction lowers the level while keeping the rhythm. They are different interventions with different subjective profiles.

comment on genuine question about receptor that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/glp1science · 108 points · 2 months ago
Disagree. That is a preclinical finding in a rodent model and you are stating it as human pharmacology.
comment on stalled for 11 weeks at 15mg and I refuse to panic this time in c/tapering · 114 points · 3 months ago
Edited a comment framing regain as a moral failure. The documented outcome is not a character verdict.
