comment on [Discussion] bacteriostatic water is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/reconstitution · 1 points · 6 months ago

do the arithmetic before you reconstitute, not while holding a syringe

Disagree with the "more water is safer" framing. It is not safer, it is just a different number to divide by.

This is the principle the whole site is built on.

Adding the practical note — the formula is published and you can reproduce the ordering yourself.

How long was the randomised phase before any extension?

Core Peptides shows up in these threads because nothing verifiable exists either way

nobody gets judged here, that is the entire premise

Correction to my own post: it was my storage, not the shipment. Leaving the original up with this attached.

handling and storage vary enormously across this catalogue

permalink

declared value and description are the shipper’s decision, ask what they use

Is that a U-100 syringe? The barrel markings change the answer completely.

comment on why does nobody talk about regret in c/darkspot · 59 points · 10 months ago

Most of what gets posted here is procedural rather than dramatic: a step skipped, a document not requested, a temperature not considered, a pace chosen out of impatience.

The discontinuation numbers were the most useful thing in the paper for me and they were in a supplementary table.

Four observations is not a distribution. The lane tables here only became predictive once individual routes had a dozen or more reports behind them.

Cosigning on discontinuation. It is a result about tolerability and it gets buried every time.

nobody here is paid, including the moderators

modmail first, always, and the thread second

Checked the sponsor disclosure because I assumed it would be vague. It was extremely specific and slightly boring.

permalink

comment on genuine question about units that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/reconstitution · 46 points · 1 year ago

Agreed — units are volume. Once that lands, the rest of the arithmetic is one division.

comment on [Lab] SWB BPC — VendorInvestigate came back 98.5% against a claimed 98.0% in c/researchpeptides · 1 points · 1 year ago

Ordered under a name that turned out to cover two different molecules. Nobody’s fault but mine for not asking.

Moderation of individual cases happens in modmail rather than in threads, because a public discussion of one person’s removal is worse for that person than a private one.

Bacteriostatic water contains benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which is what makes repeated entry into the same vial reasonable. Plain sterile water has no preservative.

Open-label extensions lose their randomisation. Anybody still enrolled at week 104 is a selected group and the numbers describe that group.

Same. A press release is a claim about a result; the publication is the result.

comment on help me understand dead space, I have read the wiki twice in c/reconstitution · 27 points · 1 year ago

Adding more water does not change how much peptide is in the vial. It changes the concentration, which changes the volume you draw for the same amount. That is the entire relationship.

a U-100 syringe reads 100 units to the millilitre, every time

That is sterile water, not bacteriostatic. Same appearance, different product, and it matters for a multi-draw vial.

Push back: handling advice from one compound does not transfer to another just because both are peptides.

Cosigning the lead-time point. Made-to-order and stocked are completely different propositions and both are legitimate.

Reconstituted at 3mL when I meant to use a different volume. Caught it because the units looked wrong on the barrel. Now I write 10mg/mL on the glass before I put the cap back.

I keep a laminated card in the drawer with the arithmetic on it. Looks ridiculous. Has never once let me draw the wrong volume.

This. Showing the working is the fastest way for somebody else to spot the mistake.

Reconstituted at 1mL when I meant to use a different volume. Caught it because the units looked wrong on the barrel. Now I write 20mg/mL on the glass before I put the cap back.
