comment on [Math] 10mg vial + 2mL bac water, i want 2.5mg, how many units in c/reconstitution · 48 points · 1 days ago

Small fix — a U-100 syringe is 100 units per mL. If yours is marked differently it is not U-100 and the whole calculation changes.

comment on [PSA] your bac water is fine, your fridge door is not in c/reconstitution · 97 points · 2 days ago

Research-use-only material is not approved for human use, so treat everything in this thread as arithmetic about solutions rather than instructions for a person.

Aim the stream down the wall of the vial rather than into the cake. Reconstitution is a solubility problem, not a mixing problem, and mechanical shear does nothing helpful.

comment on [Delay] two weeks in a transit hub, then delivered fine in c/intlshipping · 1 points · 3 days ago

two identical orders a week apart is the cheapest experiment available

permalink

comment on [Failure] 61.2% purity on a vial i had already been using for six weeks in c/darkspot · 0 points · 6 days ago

What do you want from posting it — advice, or just to have it on the record?

comment on [Rules] why we removed your post and why we will say so publicly in c/meta · 0 points · 7 days ago

What would the new rule do to the vendor evidence standard?

permalink

comment on [Rules] why we removed your post and why we will say so publicly in c/meta · 9 points · 7 days ago

Yes — a proposal with concrete wording gets discussed. A complaint about the rules in general does not.

permalink

comment on [Announcement] sponsor disclosure, in full, again, because someone asked in c/meta · 2 points · 11 days ago

a rule you cannot inspect is just a preference

comment on [Readout] REDEFINE 1 and what CagriSema actually adds over sema alone in c/trialwatch · 30 points · 12 days ago

Open-label extensions lose their randomisation. Anybody still enrolled at week 104 is a selected group and the numbers describe that group.

identity before purity, every time, for anything unusual

research-use-only material is not approved for human use

comment on help me understand mg/mL, I have read the wiki twice in c/reconstitution · 34 points · 1 months ago

Yes. Writing 15mg/mL on the vial takes four seconds and removes the entire class of error this board exists to fix.

comment on [Discussion] lane is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/intlshipping · 7 points · 1 months ago

Disagree. That is a customs hold, not a carrier delay, and lumping them together makes the lane table wrong.

permalink

comment on [Meta] we crossed 800k members and nothing about the rules changes in c/meta · 2 points · 1 months ago

removals get explained publicly where the rule allows it

permalink

comment on [Failure] two years in, stopped for financial reasons, regained most of it in c/darkspot · 41 points · 1 months ago

Cosigning that going too fast is the most repeated regret on the whole site.

permalink

comment on three years of reconstitution threads, summarised so you do not have to read them in c/reconstitution · 68 points · 1 months ago

if the maths gives you a fraction of a unit, change the concentration

permalink

comment on [Rules] no referral links. not once. not ever. permanent. in c/meta · 75 points · 1 months ago

The ranking functions are published: the hot ordering combines score magnitude with age, and the controversial ordering weights total volume by the balance between up and down votes. Both are reproducible from the numbers on each submission.

comment on someone explain concentration to me like I have not read a paper in years in c/reconstitution · 149 points · 1 months ago

What concentration did you actually reconstitute at, rather than what did you intend to?

permalink

comment on genuine question about secretagogue that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/researchpeptides · 31 points · 1 months ago

That result is an area percent from an unspecified method, which is not the same as the identity confirmation being discussed.

sort by controversial occasionally, it is worth it

comment on [Discussion] we are measuring moderation at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/meta · 168 points · 1 months ago

Edited a wiki page for the first time and nothing bad happened, which is apparently the point.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] we are measuring moderation at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/meta · 4 points · 1 months ago

Read the ranking formula out of scepticism and reproduced the ordering in a spreadsheet. It does what it says.

permalink

comment on regret — my 19-week log, condensed into one table in c/darkspot · 2 points · 2 months ago

the thing that went wrong is usually procedural, not dramatic

no tracking numbers, ever

permalink

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about insulin syringe is guesswork in c/reconstitution · 1 points · 2 months ago

That is sterile water, not bacteriostatic.

Right, and the arithmetic behind it: 15mg in 3mL is 5mg/mL, so 2mg is 40 units.

permalink

comment on help me understand packaging, I have read the wiki twice in c/intlshipping · 4 points · 3 months ago

Push back: comparing a July transit with a February one on the same lane is not a comparison.

permalink

comment on genuine question about insulin syringe that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/reconstitution · 5 points · 3 months ago

Started reconstituting everything to a round concentration and the six-in-the-morning error rate went to zero.

permalink

comment on [Meta] proposal — a flair for thymosin posts in c/researchpeptides · 1 points · 3 months ago

Small fix — that is net peptide content, not purity. Both are on the certificate and they differ substantially here.

the regret is usually about pace, not about the decision

permalink

What would you do differently, specifically?

permalink

comment on stalled for 14 weeks at 12.5mg and I refuse to panic this time in c/darkspot · 1 points · 3 months ago

This.

Adding the thing that would have caught it earliest — buy small and test before committing.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] the research peptides advice in here is 3 years out of date in c/researchpeptides · 0 points · 4 months ago

For any compound with a thin testing history, identity is the first question. Mass spectrometry against a theoretical mass answers it; an area-percent purity figure does not.

permalink

intention to treat versus completers changes the number substantially

comment on carrier — 23 things I got wrong before I got it right in c/intlshipping · 0 points · 5 months ago

Total transit decomposes into first mile, international leg, clearance and last mile. Only the first two are meaningfully under the shipper’s control and most reported variance sits in the last two.
