comment on [Question] hair loss — what am I missing here in c/sideeffects · 108 points · 1 year ago
Correction: that is a known effect of reduced intake rather than a direct drug effect. The distinction matters because the fix is different.
comment on [PSA] mechanism is not what most of this community thinks it is in c/glp1science · 160 points · 1 year ago
GLP-1 receptor agonism acts both peripherally — insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent way, slowed gastric emptying — and centrally, on appetite regulation. The central component is the better explanation for sustained intake reduction.
comment on small win: dose history stopped being a problem at week 6 in c/dosinglogs · 10 points · 1 year ago
log what you did, not what you meant to do
comment on [Discussion] 503B is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/compounding · 288 points · 1 year ago
Potency and sterility testing on the finished preparation are separate from any certificate covering the starting material. Ask which you are being shown.
comment on does semaglutide actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/semaglutide · -27 points · 1 year ago
protein first, then everything else gets easier
comment on does semaglutide actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/semaglutide · 271 points · 1 year ago
Minor fix — the half-life is about a week, not about a day. The rest of your point stands.
comment on someone explain receptor to me like I have not read a paper in years in c/glp1science · 139 points · 1 year ago
Correction: that is glucose-dependent insulin secretion, which is why hypoglycaemia risk is low as monotherapy. Not the same claim as you made.
comment on [Discussion] mechanism is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/glp1science · 228 points · 1 year ago
That conflates receptor affinity with clinical potency. They are related and they are not the same thing.
comment on three years of 2.4mg threads, summarised so you do not have to read them in c/semaglutide · 658 points · 1 year ago
Weight change and appetite change are different endpoints on different timescales. Conflating them is where most of the confusion on this board starts.
comment on [Results] 96 weeks, 40kg, and 2.4mg was the hard part in c/semaglutide · 1 points · 1 year ago
the food noise going quiet is the effect people actually describe
comment on [Discussion] nausea is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/sideeffects · 42 points · 1 year ago
Severe or persistent abdominal pain sits outside the pattern this board can usefully discuss. The honest answer there is that it needs someone who can examine you.
comment on dose history — my 20-week log, condensed into one table in c/dosinglogs · 1 points · 1 year ago
Yes — log what happened rather than what you intended. My retrospective entries were quietly wrong every time.

one line a week beats a spreadsheet you abandon
comment on three years of Ozempic threads, summarised so you do not have to read them in c/semaglutide · 119 points · 1 year ago
STEP-1 ran 68 weeks and landed just under 15% mean body weight change on 2.4mg. It is an average of a wide distribution, not a target you have missed.
comment on genuine question about nausea that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/sideeffects · 27 points · 1 year ago

comment on is it normal to get constipation at week 26 in c/semaglutide · 141 points · 1 year ago
the first four weeks are a tolerance check, not a weight-loss phase
comment on my TSH moved and I cannot work out whether sulphur burps are why in c/sideeffects · 668 points · 2 years ago
Constipation is mostly reduced intake plus reduced fluid, not a direct effect. That is why the boring fibre and water answer keeps working.
comment on [PSA] New Zealand is not what most of this community thinks it is in c/glp1aus · 12 points · 2 years ago
say which state only if it matters, but always say which country
comment on [Results] 39 weeks, 14kg, and Ozempic was the hard part in c/semaglutide · 172 points · 2 years ago

comment on genuine question about Wegovy that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/semaglutide · 52 points · 2 years ago
I would push back gently. Going up because the scale paused is the single most common mistake described on this board.
comment on reading Ozempic threads from 2024 and half of it aged badly in c/semaglutide · 48 points · 2 years ago
This matches me almost exactly, right down to the fatigue showing up on the second day and being gone by the fourth.
comment on [Question] heart rate — what am I missing here in c/sideeffects · 167 points · 2 years ago

comment on [Question] semaglutide — what am I missing here in c/semaglutide · 0 points · 2 years ago
Are you measuring anything other than weight? Waist is usually the one that keeps moving.
comment on someone explain 503B to me like I have not read a paper in years in c/compounding · 184 points · 2 years ago
Asked which facility and got a name straight away. Looked it up, found the registration, felt considerably better about the whole thing.
comment on how much of what we believe about heart rate actually comes from reflux threads in c/sideeffects · 86 points · 2 years ago
Yes. Holding the dose is a real option and it does not mean you have failed at anything.
comment on [Vendor] WWB vs QST on the same compound, same month — both cleared 98.5% in c/semaglutide · 392 points · 2 years ago
Careful. A four-week stall is inside normal variation and treating it as failure is how people escalate for no reason.
comment on [Vendor] WWB vs QST on the same compound, same month — both cleared 98.5% in c/semaglutide · 82 points · 2 years ago
Research-use-only material is not approved for human use, so anything in this thread about how a compounded or research vial "should" behave is a chemistry discussion, not a dosing one.
comment on the Netherlands: state board, and what it actually costs here in c/compounding · 27 points · 2 years ago
This. Compounded preparations carry no equivalence claim, and treating them as generics is a category error people make constantly.
comment on the Netherlands: state board, and what it actually costs here in c/compounding · 171 points · 2 years ago
the label on a compounded vial is a legal document, read it
comment on [Discussion] fatigue is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/sideeffects · 3 points · 2 years ago
Disagree. Severe abdominal pain is not on the list of things to wait out, and this board should not be treating it as one.
comment on week 52 check-in — 14kg down, reflux manageable, one thing confusing me in c/sideeffects · 1 points · 2 years ago
if it is severe or persistent that is a clinician question, not a board question
comment on tried reflux for 11 weeks. here is what happened. in c/sideeffects · 1 points · 2 years ago
the food noise going quiet is the effect people came for, and sulphur burps are the toll for the first fortnight
comment on [Question] how do you actually verify Wegovy in c/semaglutide · 87 points · 2 years ago
The weekly interval comes out of the half-life — roughly a week — so you are on a smooth curve rather than a series of spikes. That is also why moving your day slightly does very little.
comment on [Discussion] heart rate is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/sideeffects · 890 points · 2 years ago
Small fix — the shedding follows the rate of weight loss, not the compound, and it is temporary.
comment on nobody warned me about fatigue and I would have liked the warning in c/sideeffects · 280 points · 2 years ago
Most of the common complaints trace back to slowed gastric emptying — early fullness, reflux, nausea after a large or fatty meal. That is also why meal size and speed change the experience more than anything else.
