does semaglutide actually matter or is it forum lore at this point

Side Effects Receipts ×7 Cold Box ×2 Well Actually ×2

does semaglutide actually matter or is it forum lore at this point. Searched first, found three threads that contradict each other, hence the post.

Steady state after a dose change takes four to five half-lives, so the fair judgement point on a new step is about a month, not four days.

What I would tell week-one me, in order of how much time it would have saved.

One: the first month is a tolerance check. You are finding out whether you can take this, not how much you will lose. Two: write down the dose, the day and the waist measurement. Three: a stall of under six weeks is weather, not climate. Four: reflux that arrives the day after the shot and fades by day four is the ordinary pattern and it usually settles at a stable dose.

None of that is advice about what you should do. It is the shape of the thing, which nobody explained to me and which the wiki explains better than I just did.

Weight change and appetite change are different endpoints on different timescales. Conflating them is where most of the confusion on this board starts.

Happy to answer the boring questions. Those are usually the ones worth asking.

Correct, and worth adding: the trial average is an average. Half the people in it did worse than 15% and were still on the drug.

Minor fix — the half-life is about a week, not about a day. The rest of your point stands.

Agreed, and the bit people skip is that the ladder is a tolerance ladder. It is not a potency ranking.

protein first, then everything else gets easier

What dose and how many weeks at it before this started?

What did week 62 look like compared with this one? The month either side is the useful comparison.

Same injection day each week, or has it drifted?

The weekly interval comes out of the half-life — roughly a week — so you are on a smooth curve rather than a series of spikes. That is also why moving your day slightly does very little.

Small correction: 2.4mg is the maintenance ceiling on the label, not the starting maintenance dose. The distinction matters for anyone reading this later.

Delayed gastric emptying is most pronounced early and attenuates with continued dosing, which is why the early fullness usually fades at a stable dose.

STEP-1 ran 68 weeks and landed just under 15% mean body weight change on 2.4mg. It is an average of a wide distribution, not a target you have missed.

Sceptical of the mechanism you are proposing. Gastric emptying slows, it does not stop, and the timings you describe do not follow from it.

do not chase somebody else’s titration schedule, they are not you

First month I lost almost nothing and nearly quit. Month two and three were where it all happened.

How long was the stall before you decided it was a stall?

Removed the dose recommendation. You can describe what you did; you cannot tell somebody else what to take.

the food noise going quiet is the effect people actually describe

replysharereportpermalink
u/iman_castellanos107 points·1 year ago

Does food noise track the day after the shot, or is it there all week?

Research-use-only material is not approved for human use, so anything in this thread about how a compounded or research vial "should" behave is a chemistry discussion, not a dosing one.

nausea that arrives on day two and fades by day four is the standard shape
