Panicked over a first-day sensor reading and rebuilt my week around it. It was the sensor.

nausea that arrives on day two and fades by day four is the standard shape

What is the actual question underneath the question? Happy to answer both.

The injection was scarier in my head than in reality. It took about ten seconds and I felt slightly silly afterwards.

Asked what a COA was in my first week. Somebody linked the explainer and I have been reading them ever since.

comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about titration until somebody posts a number in c/semaglutide · 125 points · 5 months ago

The escalation schedule in the trials existed to keep people on the drug. It is a tolerability ramp, and it is why the label reads the way it does.

Appetite returning before the scale moves follows from the mechanism: the appetite effect is the proximal one and weight is the lagging integrated outcome.

Week 71: 12kg down, nausea basically gone since about week 3, and the honest headline is that nothing dramatic happened. It was boring and it worked.

Ordered under a name that turned out to cover two different molecules. Nobody’s fault but mine for not asking.

comment on is it normal to get injection-site soreness at week 44 in c/sideeffects · 5 points · 8 months ago

A symptom that begins the day after the shot and fades by day four tracks the exposure curve. One that appears at random in week 10 probably does not, and that is worth saying to a clinician rather than to us.

comment on [Discussion] first time is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/newbiequestions · 1 points · 8 months ago

I confused two very similar words on my first order and asked here, expecting to be mocked. Three people explained it properly instead.

What week are you in?

comment on week 45 check-in — 8kg down, sulphur burps manageable, one thing confusing me in c/maintenancephase · 60 points · 8 months ago

Body weight varies by a couple of kilos over days in stable people through fluid, glycogen and gut content. A range is not a trend.

comment on nobody warned me about injection-site soreness and I would have liked the warning in c/semaglutide · 8 points · 8 months ago

Strongly agree on protein. It did more for my sulphur burps than any of the things I bought to fix my sulphur burps.

comment on someone explain goal to me like I have not read a paper in years in c/progresspics · 0 points · 8 months ago

Gently disagree with the framing — that is not a plateau, that is a month.

Adding the thing I wish someone had said to me — the goal you picked at week one was a guess.

comment on [Discussion] we are measuring dose stretching at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/maintenancephase · 39 points · 8 months ago

Same. Monthly is plenty at this stage and daily weighing made me miserable for no information gain.

Bacteriostatic water contains a preservative, which is what makes repeated entry into a vial reasonable. Sterile water does not, and the two are not interchangeable for that purpose.

Confirmed the lead time in writing before ordering a made-to-order line. It was longer than the site suggested and entirely reasonable once explained.

That method was developed for a different compound class and would not resolve the impurities you are asking about.

comment on the regain thing finally clicked for me and I want to write it down in c/maintenancephase · 294 points · 10 months ago

That is a range, not a trend. Two weigh-ins 9 days apart cannot distinguish them.

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about incretin is guesswork in c/glp1science · 34 points · 10 months ago

The incretin effect is the observation that oral glucose provokes a larger insulin response than intravenous glucose at matched glycaemia, and the difference is mediated by gut hormones. That is the foundation the whole class sits on.

comment on sulphur burps: what the trials say vs what this community says in c/sideeffects · 29 points · 11 months ago

Disagree. Severe abdominal pain is not on the list of things to wait out, and this board should not be treating it as one.

Research-use-only material is not approved for human use. That is a plain statement of regulatory fact and it belongs in every beginner thread.

archived_thread_a is describing the standard shape here and it matches the trial data better than most anecdotes do.

Appetite change and weight change are different measurements on different timescales. The first is usually noticed first and the second lags it.

comment on [Discussion] the glycaemic control advice in here is 2 years out of date in c/t2dglp1 · 1 points · 1 year ago

Agreed, and the glucose-dependence point is the reason the risk profile reads the way it does.

bianca_dziedzic is right that the fasting number moves last. Knowing that in advance saves months of worry.

comment on hair loss — my 12-week log, condensed into one table in c/sideeffects · 34 points · 1 year ago

Hair shedding after significant weight loss is a telogen effect that follows the rate of loss.

Adding to this — holding the dose rather than stepping is the option people forget they have.

Constipation is mostly reduced intake plus reduced fluid, not a direct effect. That is why the boring fibre and water answer keeps working.
