The placebo arm lost weight too. Always ask by how much.

comment on anyone actually tracked their own sides before/after switching to a split schedule in c/semaglutide · 54 points · 2 days ago
right, side effects generally trend down over time on their own as people adapt regardless of schedule changes, so any before/after without a control period is confounded by that trend
comment on walking through what SURMOUNT-4 actually showed about stopping, since it gets misquoted constantly in c/tapering · 74 points · 3 days ago
always ask what the placebo arm actually did in these trials, in both cases it's not "did nothing ever" it's "abruptly removed after an active period", which is a specific and different thing from a deliberate taper
comment on [PSA] how to actually tell noise from a real plateau instead of guessing in c/semaglutide · 9 points · 4 days ago
and people forget the placebo arm in these trials wasn't flat either, some of that "noise" is just being a human body over months regardless of the drug

Sceptical of the extrapolation. Forty-eight weeks does not tell you about seventy-two, and the curve shape is exactly what is unknown.

the energy-expenditure story is mechanistically interesting and clinically unproven

Severe or persistent abdominal pain sits outside the pattern this board can usefully discuss. The honest answer there is that it needs someone who can examine you.

Nothing in this thread is medical advice, including this comment. I am describing a mechanism, not telling anybody what to do about their own week.
comment on [Discussion] the TRIUMPH advice in here is 2 years out of date in c/retatrutide · 96 points · 27 days ago
The standing caveat, written out properly because it keeps getting compressed into a footnote.
Nothing containing this compound is approved by any regulator. Research-use-only material is not approved for human use. That is not a legal formality on this board — it is why there is so little independent data, why the escalation schedules people post are invented, and why nobody here can answer a dosing question.
What this board can usefully do is read the published trials carefully, log independent purity results, and be honest about how thin the evidence base is. Everything else belongs somewhere with a clinician in it.
comment on retatrutide is the most under-discussed thing on this board in c/retatrutide · 47 points · 1 months ago
Glucagon receptor agonism is associated with increased energy expenditure and with hepatic effects. That is a mechanistic story with strong preclinical support and limited phase 2 human data.

That symptom is not the one being described upthread. Two different things with similar names and the answers are not interchangeable.

comment on genuine question about sulphur burps that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/sideeffects · 12 points · 2 months ago
The pattern almost everyone here describes, written out once so it can be linked.
A step up is followed by a rough window — commonly sulphur burps arriving the day after the shot and easing by day four, worst in the first fortnight, then flattening out. At a stable dose it usually settles further. Constipation and fatigue tend to track intake and fluid rather than the compound directly, which is why the unglamorous answers work.
What sits outside that pattern: severe pain, symptoms that appear from nowhere weeks into a stable dose, or anything getting worse rather than better over a month. None of that is a board question and none of us can answer it for you.
comment on [PSA] timeframe is not what most of this community thinks it is in c/progresspics · 80 points · 3 months ago
Rate of change is not a virtue. Slower trajectories are as durable as fast ones and are considerably better represented on this board than the front page suggests.

A rule-change proposal needs replacement wording because that is what can be evaluated. Without it there is nothing to compare against the current text.

Cosigning the fibre and water answer. Unglamorous, free, and it fixed it for me inside a week.

Pushback: you changed the dose, the meal timing and the training in the same fortnight, so the attribution is guesswork.
comment on reading sulphur burps threads from 2024 and half of it aged badly in c/sideeffects · 219 points · 5 months ago
Keeping a log, and what to put in it.
One line a day: dose, day since injection, what the symptom was and how bad out of five, and roughly what you ate. Two months of that fits on one page and the pattern is obvious on paper in a way it never is in your head.
Mine showed a clean day-two-to-day-four window I had been describing as "random". Once you can see the pattern you can plan around it, and planning around it is most of the relief.

Not convinced by that mechanism. Slowed gastric emptying explains fullness and reflux; it does not explain what you are describing.

Constipation is mostly reduced intake plus reduced fluid, not a direct effect. That is why the boring fibre and water answer keeps working.

comment on help me understand gallbladder, I have read the wiki twice in c/sideeffects · 400 points · 11 months ago
On buying things to fix side effects, which I did extensively and would not do again.
The interventions that changed anything for me were all behavioural and free: smaller meals, eating slower, stopping food a few hours before sleep, more fibre and considerably more water. The things I bought did nothing I could detect, and I was motivated to detect something.
The other lever, which people forget, is time at dose. Holding rather than stepping is a legitimate plan and it fixed my tolerance where nothing else did.

Correction: TRIUMPH is the phase 3 programme. The number you are quoting is from the phase 2 readout, which is a different trial.
