comment on [Data] the lane table, updated: 41 lanes, median and 90th percentile in c/intlshipping · 1 points · 2 days ago

Agreed. Reporting by lane rather than by supplier is what made the tables here actually predictive.

sort by controversial occasionally, it is worth it

comment on [Regain] appetite came back over five weeks, here is the timeline in c/tapering · 2 points · 11 days ago

Do you have a written baseline from before you started changing anything?

permalink

comment on [Announcement] sponsor disclosure, in full, again, because someone asked in c/meta · 3 points · 12 days ago

Moderation of individual cases happens in modmail rather than in threads, because a public discussion of one person’s removal is worse for that person than a private one.

comment on [Data] packaging quality by vendor, scored on five things, 60 shipments in c/intlshipping · -1 points · 22 days ago

A lane is an origin, a destination, a carrier and a season. Change any one and the distribution changes, which is why supplier-level shipping averages are close to meaningless.

reship policy in writing before you order

The ranking functions are published: the hot ordering combines score magnitude with age, and the controversial ordering weights total volume by the balance between up and down votes. Both are reproducible from the numbers on each submission.

comment on how much of what we believe about interval stretching actually comes from tapering threads in c/tapering · 1 points · 1 months ago

interval stretching is the most commonly described approach here

comment on shipping is the most under-discussed thing on this board in c/intlshipping · 54 points · 1 months ago

Ordered from the warehouse in New Zealand instead of origin and the whole customs question disappeared. 12 days, door to door.

comment on [PSA] EMS is not what most of this community thinks it is in c/intlshipping · 39 points · 1 months ago

Total transit decomposes into first mile, international leg, clearance and last mile. Only the first two are meaningfully under the shipper’s control and most reported variance sits in the last two.

comment on does EMS actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/intlshipping · 0 points · 1 months ago

Where did the time actually go — international leg, clearance, or last mile?

Disagreeing with this bit: a single slow shipment does not move a lane, it joins the distribution.

Asked BCH which lines they hold regionally before ordering and got a straight list back. Changed what I ordered and when.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] we are measuring moderation at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/meta · 1 points · 1 months ago

Had a post removed, went to modmail, got a specific explanation and disagreed with it politely. It stayed removed and I understood why.

comment on [Question] Canada — has anyone got a straight answer on seizure in c/customs · 11 points · 2 months ago

Yes. Nothing here is legal advice and the good posts on this board say so themselves.

permalink

comment on [Results] 9 weeks on 7.5mg, full numbers, ask me anything boring in c/tapering · 26 points · 2 months ago

stretching to ten days then twelve is the pattern people report

permalink

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about rules are guesswork in c/meta · 35 points · 2 months ago

Right, and the storefront links on source pages are marked and disclosed, which is the honest way to do it.

permalink

comment on help me understand packaging, I have read the wiki twice in c/intlshipping · 2 points · 3 months ago

Not convinced by four data points. That is not a lane yet, it is an anecdote with a route attached.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about interval stretching until somebody posts a number in c/tapering · 1 points · 4 months ago

write down where you are before you change anything

permalink

comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about EMS until somebody posts a number in c/intlshipping · 21 points · 4 months ago

Push back: comparing a July transit with a February one on the same lane is not a comparison.

permalink

comment on someone explain appetite return to me like I have not read a paper in years in c/tapering · 67 points · 5 months ago

Stopped abruptly once and gradually once. The gradual one was easier to interpret because I could see what was changing.

permalink

comment on Germany: personal import, and what it actually costs here in c/customs · 17 points · 6 months ago

declared value and description are the shipper’s decisions, ask what they use

permalink

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify wiki in c/meta · 4 points · 7 months ago

rule-change proposals need a concrete wording, not a complaint

permalink

comment on three years of ranking threads, summarised so you do not have to read them in c/meta · 9 points · 9 months ago

sponsor disclosure is on the about page in full

permalink

comment on help me understand seizure, I have read the wiki twice in c/customs · 33 points · 9 months ago

Correction: that is a request for information, not a seizure notice. Different document, different process, different deadline.

permalink

comment on reading discontinuation threads from 2024 and half of it aged badly in c/tapering · 49 points · 12 months ago

I would not treat appetite returning as a sign of doing it wrong. It is the expected sequence.

Interval stretching lowers the trough concentration while keeping the dose; dose reduction lowers the level while keeping the rhythm.

Agreed — and the exposure lag means the first fortnight tells you almost nothing.

permalink

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify rules in c/meta · 1 points · 12 months ago

That is a complaint rather than a proposal. Bring wording and it can actually be discussed.

permalink

This. Decide in advance what you are watching for. Deciding in the middle of it is much harder.

comment on the DHL thing finally clicked for me and I want to write it down in c/intlshipping · 8 points · 1 year ago

permalink

Disagree with loosening that. The evidence rule is why a supplier report here means something.

permalink

That reads as advice to stop, which is not something anyone here should be offering.

comment on [PSA] lane is not what most of this community thinks it is in c/intlshipping · 38 points · 1 year ago

Do they publish a reship policy, and did you read it before ordering?

Adding the field everyone forgets — the month. Without it the report is not comparable to anything.

permalink

comment on someone explain moderation to me like I have not read a paper in years in c/meta · 69 points · 1 year ago

This. Modmail first is not bureaucracy; it stops individual cases turning into a public pile-on.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] we are measuring regain at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/tapering · 182 points · 1 year ago

Same. A quiet fortnight after stopping tells you very little; the interesting part starts later.
