comment on [PSA] your bac water is fine, your fridge door is not in c/reconstitution · 2 points · 23 hr ago

Bacteriostatic water contains benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which is what makes repeated entry into the same vial reasonable. Plain sterile water has no preservative.

do the arithmetic before you reconstitute, not while holding a syringe

comment on what does titration actually mean in c/newbiequestions · 1 points · 4 days ago

That is area percent from a certificate, not the amount of peptide in the vial.

nordic_pricing has explained this better than the wiki does, which is saying something.

The dead space question sent me down a rabbit hole for a week. It is a fraction of a unit and it is the same every draw.

Cosigning the wiki point, and also: ask anyway. The wiki cannot tell you it understood your question.

comment on is it normal to be this scared of the first injection in c/newbiequestions · 1 points · 9 days ago

My first question here was genuinely basic and it now shows up in search for other people asking it.

20mg into 2mL is 10mg/mL, and 1mg of that is 10 units

permalink

comment on how do i know if my dose is working in c/newbiequestions · 45 points · 12 days ago

Same. The injection was the thing I was most nervous about and the thing that turned out to matter least.

comment on [Discussion] cagri is the most underrated molecule in this space in c/cagrilintide · 2 points · 12 days ago

Yes. The combination is where the interesting effect sizes are, and the monotherapy arms read very differently.

permalink

comment on [Trial Data] nausea rates in the combination arm vs sema alone in c/cagrilintide · 0 points · 17 days ago

That result is preclinical.

Disagreeing with this line: that figure is from a combination arm and is being quoted as monotherapy.

That only works if the fill weight is exactly the label weight, and it usually is not exactly anything.

5mg into 2mL is 2.5mg/mL, and 0.25mg of that is 10 units

permalink

comment on genuine question about mg/mL that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/reconstitution · 97 points · 1 months ago

Correction: that gives 50 units, not what you have written. 30mg into 3mL is 10mg/mL and the division follows from there.

What is written on the vial right now?

Asked GGPeps what volume they reconstitute to for their own stability testing and they answered in one line. Useful thing to know.

Cloned storefronts copy assets, layout and testimonial text. What they cannot easily copy is a batch-specific document that ties to a lot you can then have tested independently.

Working has to be shown on arithmetic posts.

Adding one thing — put the date on the label too. Concentration plus date and you can never mix two vials up.

Not quite. Bacteriostatic and sterile water are not interchangeable for a multi-draw vial, and the difference is the preservative.

Bacteriostatic water contains a preservative, which is what makes repeated entry into a vial reasonable. Sterile water does not, and the two are not interchangeable for that purpose.

Agreed on the no-names rule. It protects the board and it protects people who turn out to be wrong.

Agreed that appetite moves before the scale. Knowing that in advance saves a lot of week-three panic.

comment on [Discussion] bacteriostatic water is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/reconstitution · 13 points · 6 months ago

Careful — that arithmetic is wrong. 5mg in 1mL is 5mg/mL, so 2mg draws to 40 units, not what you wrote.

permalink

Correction: the starting dose is a tolerance step rather than a treatment dose. The distinction is the answer to the question above.

Careful — that arithmetic is wrong. 15mg in 3mL is 5mg/mL, so 1.5mg draws to 30 units, not what you wrote.

write the concentration on the vial in marker, that is the whole post

Agreed that the monotherapy numbers look modest out of context and that the context is the whole story.

permalink

Push back: the evidence base here is thin enough that a confident ranking against the established compounds is not supportable.

Kept a log purely because so few people are logging this one. It is one person and it is not data.

Careful. What you are describing is a delayed shipment, and this board should not turn that into an accusation without more.

Disagree with the "more water is safer" framing. It is not safer, it is just a different number to divide by.

Agreed that appetite moves before the scale.

Slight disagreement with this bit only, because a beginner reading it might take it as a plan rather than a description.
