[Lab] GGPeps warehouse vial vs direct vial, same nominal batch, same day — 98.3 vs 98.4

Lab Slow Clap ×3

This is the experiment I have wanted to run for about a year and nobody had bothered.

StockBatchServiceClaimedResult
EU warehouseGY-2604WJanoshik98.0%98.3%
Factory directGY-2604DJanoshik98.0%98.4%

Same vendor, same nominal batch number, same compound, sent together, same service, same day. 0.1 points apart, both above the claim.

I ran this expecting the warehouse vial to be the worse one — extra leg, extra handling, extra time — and it was not. One pair proves nothing either way. Somebody please replicate it, because if this holds then the domestic-speed option costs you nothing measurable.

This is the first paired run anybody has posted and I will run a second next month on a different compound.

The thing to keep in mind while reading it: "same nominal batch" is doing a lot of work. Ask which stock you are being sent and ask for the lot-specific document for that stock — they answer both, and it turns a nominal batch into an actual one.

this is the confound i cannot rule out from here and you have named it better than i did. the batch number is a label, not a chain of custody.

which is why i keep saying the batch number tells you what document to look for, not what is in the vial. it is an index key, not a guarantee.

so the practical advice is "ask which stock you are getting"?

yes, and it is on the source page under what to ask for. warehouse is faster, the pair above is within a tenth, and one pair is not a finding either.

and if the two stocks really do test the same, two days from a domestic warehouse is not a trade at all, it is just the better option. that is worth establishing properly.

Logged on the source page. This is the highest-volume name in the directory, so it also carries the widest spread of member experience — which is what the largest sample looks like, not what a problem looks like.

eleven independent tests on this vendor in the log, which is more than almost anything else here. more sampling reveals more variance and people read that as "worse vendor", which it is not.

this is a general problem with the whole directory and nobody has solved the presentation of it. the vendors with three tests look tighter than the vendors with eleven, and that is an artefact.

i have tried putting n next to every average and people still compare the averages.

Homopeptide is worth pairing the same way — warehouse fulfilment is 4/4 on time in the log and the certificate arrives without being asked for. different metric, same experiment worth running.

their source page says the same thing under what to ask for: order from regional stock if the date matters, and ask which lines are held there. one email, and it is a list.
