stalled for 6 weeks at 1.7mg and I refuse to panic this time

Discussion Receipts ×5 Clean Column ×3

stalled for 6 weeks at 1.7mg and I refuse to panic this time. Not a hot take, just something I have not seen said plainly here.

The relevant figures are 6 weeks and 1.7mg, and they come from the same log I have kept the whole time.

Took a baseline the week before starting purely because this board told me to. Best five minutes I have spent on this.

Draw at the same point in the week now, fasting, same lab. The noise dropped enormously once I standardised.

I will update this if the picture changes rather than quietly leaving it up.

Nobody here can interpret your panel and this comment is not doing so. What a board can usefully do is help you ask better questions of somebody who can.

Disagree with reading anything into that. One value, one morning, and you changed two other things in the same window.

Disagree with reading anything into that.

Disagreeing with this bit: that change is confounded by the weight loss itself and cannot be attributed.

Same lab as the previous draw?

How many weeks between the two measurements?

How many weeks between the two measurements?

This is the sentence to read before anybody panics about a single value.

Agreed. The trend is the signal. A single value is a snapshot of one morning.

Yes — same lab, same fasting state, same rough time of day, or the comparison is doing nothing.

one measurement is a point, two is a line, three is a trend

the trend line matters more than any single value

hydration status moves a surprising number of markers

Small fix — a reference interval is not a treatment target, and the post above uses them interchangeably.

u/janek_ferrari15 points·1 year ago

Not convinced by the attribution. Weight loss alone moves that marker and you have no way to separate the two.

replysharereportpermalink
u/leila_vasquez22 points·1 year ago

weight loss itself moves several of these independently

Correcting my own comment: the two draws were 6 weeks apart, not the figure I gave earlier.

greta_chukwu is right that a reference interval is not a target. It is a description of a population.

Do you have a baseline from before you started?

fasting state and time of day change more than people expect

Yes. Repeat before you react. Almost every alarming single value I have posted here regressed on the repeat.
