c/bloodwork wiki
Everything you would otherwise have to learn by getting a post removed. Baseline panels, ApoB, A1c, liver enzymes. Track it, do not guess.

What this community is for
What to measure before you start, what to re-measure, and how to interpret movement without panicking. ApoB over LDL-C, HOMA-IR as a crude free tool, ALT and the fatty-liver story, eGFR noise during rapid loss, and the deficiencies that a 1,100-calorie appetite will hand you.
c/bloodwork was created on 12 Nov 2023 and currently has 41,500 members and 95 captured submissions. It sits in the second tier of the site, which mostly affects how fast a question gets answered rather than how well.
The one-line version
Baseline panels, ApoB, A1c, liver enzymes. Track it, do not guess.
Rules, and why each exists
Community rules come first, then the six site-wide rules that apply everywhere on GLP Research Hub. Community rules are enforced by the moderators listed at the bottom of this page; site rules are enforced by everyone.
- Post reference ranges with your numbers. Units differ by country and lab.
- Nobody here can tell you what a result means for you. We can tell you what it usually means.
- Redact identifying details from lab PDFs before posting.
And the site rules, which are short on purpose:
- Independent community. Nobody here sells anything, and anyone who tries is banned.
- Not medical advice. Describe what you did; never prescribe to a stranger.
- Claims need evidence. Batch numbers, dated screenshots, independent test reports, or a citation.
- No referral links, discount codes or affiliate URLs. Permanent ban, no appeal.
- No contact handles, wallet addresses or tracking numbers — they identify people.
- Be recognisably decent. Disagree hard, insult nobody.
Terms you will see
Vocabulary that turns up constantly in c/bloodwork. Each links to the topic page, which collects every submission that touches it.
- bloodwork — discussed frequently in this community — see the topic page for every submission that touches it.
- ApoB — apolipoprotein B — a count of atherogenic particles; a better marker than LDL-C.
- A1c — glycated haemoglobin, a rolling average of blood glucose over months.
- ALT — a liver enzyme; often the first place the fatty-liver story shows up.
- eGFR — estimated kidney filtration rate; noisy during rapid weight loss.
- lipids — the cholesterol panel. Triglycerides usually move first and fastest.
- ferritin — iron stores. A small appetite tanks these quietly.
- baseline labs — the numbers you cannot go back and collect later.

Asked constantly
- [Question] eGFR dropped 8 points during rapid loss, should i worry
- [Question] my TSH moved 0.4. is that anything.
- [Meta] the ALT rule is doing its job and people should stop complaining
- why does nobody talk about baseline labs
- week 71 check-in — 23kg down, muscle cramps manageable, one thing confusing me
- genuine question about ALT that I am slightly embarrassed to ask
- [Meta] proposal — a flair for baseline labs posts
- what changed for me between month 2 and month 11
- [Question] ApoB — what am I missing here
- the baseline labs thing finally clicked for me and I want to write it down
If your question is on that list, read the answers there first. If it is not, ask it — that is what the community is for, and "this has been asked" is only a helpful reply when it comes with a link.
Who runs this
Moderation here is done by volunteers who also post as normal members. They are not clinicians, not vendors, and not paid.
- u/lipid_panel_larry — Full panel every 12 weeks since 2023. ApoB is the number I actually watch.
- u/a1c_arc — 9.1 → 5.4 over 14 months with a GLP-1 and a walking habit. Charts in profile.
- u/liver_enzyme_liz — ALT dropped 34 to 19. The fatty-liver story is the underrated one.
- u/gentle_correction — You can be right without being unkind. Usually.
Wiki pages are community-maintained summaries, not clinical guidance. If a wiki page and your clinician disagree, your clinician wins.
