comment on [Announcement] c/labresults now requires the standard template in c/meta · -32 points · 3 days ago

Edited a wiki page for the first time and nothing bad happened, which is apparently the point.

comment on how many independent tests before you trust a vendor. my number is three in c/vendorvetting · 58 points · 9 days ago

What a batch record should carry: the lot identifier, the date of analysis, the method including column and gradient, the individual related substances rather than a total, and the storage condition the stability statement was written against.

comment on [Milestone] first time in a decade my blood pressure is normal in c/progresspics · 1 points · 15 days ago

Agreed — text only was the best rule this board ever adopted. The posts are about what actually changed rather than about lighting.

comment on [Failure] vendor vanished mid-order with 11 people waiting in c/darkspot · 11 points · 19 days ago

Chased the scale instead of the measurements for a year and made myself miserable for no additional progress.

permalink

comment on [Regret] told my whole family, then stopped, then had to tell them that too in c/darkspot · 116 points · 22 days ago

Most of what gets posted here is procedural rather than dramatic: a step skipped, a document not requested, a temperature not considered, a pace chosen out of impatience.

comment on [Results] two years, and the second year mattered more than the first in c/progresspics · -28 points · 1 months ago

Rate of change is not a virtue. Slower trajectories are as durable as fast ones and are considerably better represented on this board than the front page suggests.

permalink

comment on [Regret] chased the scale instead of the labs for a year in c/darkspot · 37 points · 1 months ago

Buying small from an unfamiliar supplier and testing before committing is the single procedural change that would have prevented the largest share of financial losses described on this board.

Asked a question here that I thought was stupid and got three papers back. Best thread I have been in on this site.

comment on [Discussion] we are measuring state board at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/compounding · 20 points · 1 months ago

I would not read the price difference as a quality signal. Most of it is the consultation model, not the vial.

sort by controversial occasionally, it is worth it

Adding the practical note — the formula is published and you can reproduce the ordering yourself.

The evidence standard on the vendor boards requires a document, a date or a named service behind any claim about a supplier. It is what makes those threads worth reading years later.

Argued against the strict evidence rule for a year. Then read a supplier thread on another site and stopped arguing.

permalink

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify telehealth in c/compounding · 25 points · 2 months ago

Potency and sterility testing on the finished preparation are separate from any certificate covering the starting material. Ask which you are being shown.

permalink

comment on [Meta] proposal — a flair for Janoshik posts in c/vendorvetting · 26 points · 2 months ago

That reads as a recommendation and the source pages deliberately are not. They are a record you use to make your own decision.

permalink

comment on [Question] glucagon — what am I missing here in c/survodutide · 1 points · 2 months ago

Disagree — that is a weight endpoint from a different programme and you are quoting it in a hepatic context.

Disagreeing with this bit: that number comes from a different programme with a different population.

comment on [Struggle] regained 6kg over a winter and i am posting it anyway in c/progresspics · 22 points · 2 months ago

The boring middle lasted the longest and it is the part I am most proud of.

permalink

comment on [Question] API source — what am I missing here in c/compounding · 153 points · 2 months ago

shortage status changes and the whole arrangement changes with it

permalink

comment on small win: non-scale victory stopped being a problem at week 61 in c/progresspics · 21 points · 2 months ago

Small correction, kindly meant: that is a range rather than a regain.

This is the one I would put in the sidebar. The middle is where everyone lives.

comment on [Lab] WWB tirz — Medutest came back 99.4% against a claimed 98.5% in c/vendorvetting · 25 points · 3 months ago

Right — QSC publishes the method line on the certificate, and once you have seen one that does you notice every one that does not.

comment on the VendorInvestigate question that gets asked weekly, answered properly in c/vendorvetting · 21 points · 3 months ago

That is a report count, not a test count. The table lists both and they are very different numbers.

comment on stalled for 14 weeks at 12.5mg and I refuse to panic this time in c/darkspot · 269 points · 3 months ago

Nothing here is medical advice, and the honest version of most of these posts is that they describe consequences rather than causes.

permalink

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify pharmacology in c/glp1science · 29 points · 3 months ago

Right — mechanism gives you a direction. It never gives you an effect size and people use it as though it does.

permalink

comment on anyone else notice failure kicking in around week 21 in c/darkspot · 9 points · 3 months ago

Careful with naming anybody. The board rule holds even here, and especially here.

permalink

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify pharmacology in c/glp1science · 529 points · 3 months ago

Receptor expression in a tissue is necessary but not sufficient for an effect. You also need the agonist to reach it at relevant exposure, and that is where a lot of confident mechanism talk falls down.

permalink

What timeframe is that over?

permalink

comment on how much of what we believe about what went wrong actually comes from failure threads in c/darkspot · 2 points · 4 months ago

Told everybody, then stopped, then had to tell everybody that too. That was harder than any of the rest of it.

permalink

comment on how much of what we believe about what went wrong actually comes from failure threads in c/darkspot · 12 points · 4 months ago

Stopped for financial reasons and regained most of it. Not a moral story, just a budget and a documented outcome.

permalink

Small correction — the shop in that story has no independent testing on file at all, which is different from having a bad record.

permalink

comment on Canada: API source, and what it actually costs here in c/compounding · 1 points · 4 months ago

the shortage list is the whole legal hinge and people skip it

This is the distinction the whole board runs on. Everything else follows from it.

permalink

comment on [Question] gastric emptying — what am I missing here in c/glp1science · 2 points · 4 months ago

Agreed that receptor distribution is the key to the side-effect map. It is not a mystery, it is anatomy.

independent testing on this compound is very thin

permalink

comment on [Discussion] regret is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/darkspot · 91 points · 5 months ago

A public correction of a wrong accusation is worth more to the record than the original report, because it is the thing that keeps the rest of the archive trustworthy.
