comment on [Regulatory] 503A vs 503B in one paragraph, because everyone conflates them in c/compounding · 42 points · 2 days ago

Switched between two compounded preparations and the concentration on the label was different. Redid the arithmetic on paper before drawing anything.

comment on [TGA] the 2024 compounding rule change closed a whole access route overnight in c/glp1aus · 12 points · 2 days ago

Subsidy criteria and authority requirements are published. For eligibility questions those documents are authoritative and this board is not.

Not convinced by that mechanism. Slowed gastric emptying explains fullness and reflux; it does not explain what you are describing.

comment on [Question] NZ unfunded means full price. is anyone actually paying that. in c/glp1aus · 1 points · 4 days ago

Agreed that the published criteria are the authority. They are searchable and most people never look.

This. Correcting a wrong accusation in public is the hardest and most valuable post anybody makes here.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] the compounding gap was a symptom, not a solution in c/compounding · 22 points · 11 days ago

That is not what patient-specific means. It refers to the prescription, not to a customisation of the formula.

comment on help me understand Canada, I have read the wiki twice in c/glp1canada · 1 points · 12 days ago

Moved provinces and the coverage position changed completely. Same person, same history, different formulary.

comment on [Question] does anyone get a COA from their compounding pharmacy in c/compounding · 15 points · 13 days ago

Careful. Naming a clinic without describing what actually happened turns this into a different kind of thread.

comment on why does nobody talk about province in c/glp1canada · 32 points · 19 days ago

Employer-sponsored plans have their own criteria and appeal processes, independent of the provincial formulary. Which one applies determines everything about the route.

comment on [Regret] told my whole family, then stopped, then had to tell them that too in c/darkspot · 1 points · 20 days ago

Cosigning that going too fast is the most repeated regret on the whole site.

comment on my gallbladder came out at month 7 and i would still do it again in c/sideeffects · 53 points · 22 days ago

Correction: that is a known effect of reduced intake rather than a direct drug effect. The distinction matters because the fix is different.

Nobody warned me about sulphur burps and I would have liked the warning. It was not dangerous, it was just deeply unpleasant and completely unexpected.

reflux at night, try not eating in the three hours before bed

fatima_asante is right about the timing. The day-of-week pattern is the diagnostic bit, not the severity.

Pharmacy-level availability and national supply are different questions: a pharmacy can be out while the wholesaler is not, and the pharmacist can check in minutes.

permalink

comment on why does nobody talk about Canada in c/glp1canada · 21 points · 1 months ago

Quantity limits restrict how much may be dispensed in a period even where coverage exists.

Agreed — write the application against the published criteria rather than around them.

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify telehealth in c/compounding · 19 points · 2 months ago

Yes. The shortage list is the legal hinge for the whole arrangement and its status is public.

Are you eating in the couple of hours before you sleep?

permalink

comment on does below spec actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/darkspot · 31 points · 2 months ago

Contemporaneous notes matter most in exactly the situations where people are least inclined to write them. Memory reorganises a bad fortnight into a tidier story with a clearer villain.

fatigue for the first eight days after each step, then nothing, every single time.

Adding to this — holding the dose rather than stepping is the option people forget they have.

comment on 6 months in and sulphur burps are still the thing I get wrong in c/sideeffects · 172 points · 3 months ago

The effect on gastric emptying is most pronounced early and attenuates with continued dosing, which is the mechanism behind the "it settles at a stable dose" pattern the whole board reports.

permalink

comment on constipation: the version I wish someone had shown me in week 1 in c/sideeffects · 60 points · 3 months ago

sulphur burps are unpleasant and they are not dangerous

Disagreeing with this one line: that symptom is not on the wait-and-see list and should not be posted as though it is.

comment on stalled for 14 weeks at 12.5mg and I refuse to panic this time in c/darkspot · 3 points · 3 months ago

Small correction — the shop in that story has no independent testing on file at all, which is different from having a bad record.

permalink

comment on does 503B actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/compounding · 8 points · 3 months ago

A beyond-use date derived from published stability data means something different from one assigned by default rule. Asking which is a fair question and the answer is usually available.

permalink

comment on how much of what we believe about 503A actually comes from telehealth threads in c/compounding · 1 points · 4 months ago

Potency and sterility testing on the finished preparation are separate from any certificate covering the starting material.

Disagreeing with this bit: registration is not equivalence, and the two get run together constantly.

Severe or persistent abdominal pain sits outside the pattern this board can usefully discuss. The honest answer there is that it needs someone who can examine you.

Accused the wrong party publicly and it was my storage. Correcting it here was the most uncomfortable post I have made and the right one.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about 503B until somebody posts a number in c/compounding · 3 points · 7 months ago

Disagree — a 503B being registered does not make its preparations equivalent to an approved product. Different regulatory category entirely.
