comment on why does GIP agonism seem to reduce nausea rather than add to it in c/glp1science · 3 points · 6 days ago

What was the exposure in that experiment relative to therapeutic?

The incretin effect is the observation that oral glucose provokes a larger insulin response than intravenous glucose at matched glycaemia, and the difference is mediated by gut hormones. That is the foundation the whole class sits on.

What did the storefront say the lead time was?

That is a complaint rather than a proposal. Bring wording and it can actually be discussed.

comment on [Pattern] the nine scams. that is it. there are only nine. in c/scamalerts · 5 points · 9 days ago

Reported something here with dates and screenshots and was asked for the document trail. Fair challenge, and it made the report worth reading.

Careful. What you are describing is a delayed shipment, and this board should not turn that into an accusation without more.

I would not post that as a finding. It is a single result and the template asks you to say so.

comment on glucagon receptor agonism raising energy expenditure — how solid is that in c/glp1science · 46 points · 20 days ago

Tolerance to the gastric effect develops with continued exposure while the appetite effect largely persists. That single fact explains most of the "it settles but it still works" pattern the side-effect board reports.

group buys concentrate risk in one person and nobody plans for that

comment on [Announcement] wiki rewrite finished — 22 community wikis live in c/meta · 1 points · 1 months ago

Vendor source pages carry an outbound link to the supplier’s own storefront, marked nofollow and sponsored, disclosed on the page and again on the fun

Disagreeing with this bit: making individual cases public by default is worse for the person being moderated.

vendor, compound, batch, service, result — that is the template

Small fix — same supplier, different lot. The two rows in the log are not the same batch.

comment on [PSA] a discount code in a first comment is an instant ban and here is why in c/scamalerts · 8 points · 1 months ago

Nearly paid a cloned storefront. Caught it because one character in the domain was wrong and I paste rather than type.

comment on [Meta] we crossed 800k members and nothing about the rules changes in c/meta · -5 points · 1 months ago

Feed position is a function of early votes and time. That structurally favours agreeable early answers over correct late ones, which is why sorting by controversial occasionally is worth the effort.

comment on [Discussion] we are measuring half-life at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/glp1science · 1 points · 1 months ago

gastric emptying slows, it does not stop

permalink

comment on anyone else notice oral GLP-1 kicking in around week 56 in c/orforglipron · 0 points · 1 months ago

Oral semaglutide is a peptide co-formulated with an absorption enhancer and carries food and water timing requirements. A small molecule does not have that constraint, which is the practical distinction.

comment on someone explain gastric emptying to me like I have not read a paper in years in c/glp1science · 5 points · 1 months ago

Started reading limitations sections first. It has changed how much weight I give to almost everything posted here.

permalink

comment on three years of cloned site threads, summarised so you do not have to read them in c/scamalerts · 7 points · 2 months ago

That is a report count, not a test count, and it changes how thin the evidence base actually is.

Same. Volume over novelty. Changing programme every six weeks cost me a year.

permalink

glucagon agonism sounds paradoxical until you read the energy expenditure work

permalink

comment on anyone else notice T2D kicking in around week 89 in c/t2dglp1 · 19 points · 3 months ago

Yes — time in range tells you about variability, which the average deliberately hides.

permalink

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify pharmacology in c/glp1science · 7 points · 3 months ago

The half-life explanation was the thing that made weekly dosing intuitive for me rather than arbitrary.

permalink

comment on help me understand receptor, I have read the wiki twice in c/glp1science · 1 points · 4 months ago

Yes. The central component is the one that explains the reports on this site better than gastric emptying does.

permalink

comment on help me understand sarcopenia, I have read the wiki twice in c/glp1muscle · 62 points · 4 months ago

Same. Volume over novelty. Changing programme every six weeks cost me a year.

permalink

comment on genuine question about oral GLP-1 that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/orforglipron · 8 points · 4 months ago

This. The absence of food and water timing restrictions is the practical difference people will actually notice.

permalink

comment on three years of T2D threads, summarised so you do not have to read them in c/t2dglp1 · 7 points · 4 months ago

Agreed. A1c is an integrated average over roughly three months and treating it as a current reading causes a lot of unnecessary alarm.

permalink

comment on batch — 12 things I got wrong before I got it right in c/labresults · 19 points · 5 months ago

That reading assumes area percent and net peptide content are the same number. They are not, and the report says which it is.
