comment on switched from 0.25mg to 2.4mg and reflux got better, not worse in c/newbiequestions · 30 points · 1 year ago
Small correction, said kindly: those are two different products with similar names, and the difference matters for a multi-draw vial.

dead space in the needle hub is real and it is small

a U-100 syringe reads 100 units to the millilitre, every time
comment on [Lab] 20th independent test on QYB — 97.9% on a claimed 97.0%, and the trend is the interesting part in c/vendorvetting · 76 points · 1 year ago
Did the lot code on the vial match the paperwork?

maintenance is a phase, not a finish line

Stretching the interval, reducing the dose, or both?
comment on how much of what we believe about bacteriostatic water actually comes from units threads in c/reconstitution · 4 points · 1 year ago
If your calculation produces a fraction of a unit, the concentration is wrong for your dose. Change the water volume until the numbers land on whole units.
comment on help me understand Medutest, I have read the wiki twice in c/vendorvetting · 56 points · 1 year ago
a claim with no batch number is a marketing document
Adding the practical version: ask for lead time, minimum quantity and the batch record in the same message. Three answers, one email.
comment on goal weight — my 23-week log, condensed into one table in c/maintenancephase · 134 points · 1 year ago
Yes. The habits have to outlive the dose or the maintenance phase is just a countdown.
comment on do units actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/reconstitution · 18 points · 1 year ago
the powder cake sits at the bottom, the volume you add is the volume that counts
Disagreeing with this line only: adding more water is not a safety margin, it is a different divisor.
comment on do units actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/reconstitution · 159 points · 1 year ago
Correction: that gives 30 units, not what you have written. 10mg into 3mL is 3.33mg/mL and the division follows from there.

The dead space question sent me down a rabbit hole for a week. It is a fraction of a unit and it is the same every draw.
comment on three years of week one threads, summarised so you do not have to read them in c/newbiequestions · 1 points · 1 year ago
Right, and writing the concentration on the vial is the single best habit anyone here can start with.
comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about first time is guesswork in c/newbiequestions · 196 points · 1 year ago
Appetite change and weight change are different measurements on different timescales. The first is usually noticed first and the second lags it.
comment on three years of long term threads, summarised so you do not have to read them in c/maintenancephase · -15 points · 1 year ago
Been at maintenance for 6 months on 0.25mg. Nothing happens. That is the whole report and it took me a while to accept it as success.
comment on [Meta] proposal — a flair for vendor posts in c/vendorvetting · 384 points · 1 year ago
How many separate lots is that across? One lot tested twice is one data point.
comment on three years of insulin syringe threads, summarised so you do not have to read them in c/reconstitution · 141 points · 1 year ago
I keep a laminated card in the drawer with the arithmetic on it. Looks ridiculous. Has never once let me draw the wrong volume.
comment on reship — 11 things I got wrong before I got it right in c/vendorvetting · 268 points · 2 years ago
Small fix — the figure you quoted is the claimed purity from the certificate, and the independent result was the higher of the two.

write the concentration on the vial, you will thank yourself

the injection is easier than you are imagining
comment on stalled for 3 weeks at 0.5mg and I refuse to panic this time in c/maintenancephase · 1 points · 2 years ago
Stretched from seven to ten days and then to twelve over about four months. Appetite told me where the limit was before the scale did.
comment on [Discussion] the mg/mL advice in here is 3 years out of date in c/reconstitution · 8 points · 2 years ago
Aim the stream down the wall of the vial rather than into the cake. Reconstitution is a solubility problem, not a mixing problem, and mechanical shear does nothing helpful.
comment on [Discussion] we are measuring testing at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/vendorvetting · 1 points · 2 years ago
I would separate documentation from logistics. A supplier can be excellent at one and ordinary at the other, and averaging them hides it.
comment on [Discussion] we are measuring testing at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/vendorvetting · 230 points · 2 years ago
The wider-market rows in the directory carry a band and a report count and nothing else, deliberately. Anything more would be manufacturing precision that the evidence does not support.
comment on [Question] how do you actually verify insulin syringe in c/reconstitution · 30 points · 2 years ago
the powder cake sits at the bottom, the volume you add is the volume that counts
comment on someone explain reship to me like I have not read a paper in years in c/vendorvetting · 19 points · 2 years ago
Agree. The verification log is the part with the checkable facts in it; the number at the top is just a summary of a lot of averaging.

the source page log is more useful than the score above it
