comment on [Denied] reason code says "not medically necessary" at BMI 38. sure. in c/insurancefights · 5 points · 2 days ago

Push back: your plan is an employer plan, which changes both the appeal path and who the regulator is.

comment on [Data] two DEXA scans a year — lean mass held at 92% while fat mass halved in c/glp1muscle · 4 points · 3 days ago

Agreed — protein and resistance training. Everything else in these threads is a rounding error on those two.

permalink

comment on [Paper] receptor distribution and why the GI effects were predictable in c/glp1science · 1 points · 5 days ago

Are we talking about receptor affinity or clinical potency?

permalink

comment on [Denied] employer carve-out was in the plan document, not the summary in c/insurancefights · 3 points · 6 days ago

step therapy is a documentation problem, not an argument

permalink

comment on [Appeal] the external review process nobody tells you exists in c/insurancefights · 4 points · 6 days ago

Cosigning on external review. It is a real mechanism, it is underused, and the deadlines are strict.

comment on why does GIP agonism seem to reduce nausea rather than add to it in c/glp1science · 26 points · 7 days ago

What does the discussion section say about the limitation you are glossing?

permalink

comment on [Discussion] FFMI not weight, or you will celebrate losing muscle in c/glp1muscle · -6 points · 9 days ago

nothing on this board is a training or nutrition prescription

permalink

comment on reflux got worse for three weeks then better than baseline in c/sideeffects · 1 points · 9 days ago

The fatigue turned out to be that I was eating about a third of what I thought I was. Tracked it for a week and the mystery evaporated.

permalink

comment on [Speculation] is the food-noise effect central, peripheral, or both in c/glp1science · 3 points · 10 days ago

This.

This is the concept everything else on this board is downstream of.

permalink

comment on sulphur burps: a taxonomy, a timeline, and my sincere apologies to my flatmate in c/sideeffects · 25 points · 16 days ago

A symptom that begins the day after the shot and fades by day four tracks the exposure curve. One that appears at random in week 2 probably does not, and that is worth saying to a clinician rather than to us.

permalink

comment on [Failure] vendor vanished mid-order with 11 people waiting in c/darkspot · 18 points · 18 days ago

Cosigning that going too fast is the most repeated regret on the whole site.

permalink

comment on [Failure] fridge died in a heatwave and i lost three months of material in c/darkspot · 10 points · 26 days ago

Name removed.

ledger_mod is right that it was procedural. The procedure was not written down anywhere for you to follow.

comment on [Failure] fridge died in a heatwave and i lost three months of material in c/darkspot · 9 points · 26 days ago

What would have caught it earliest?

This is why the board exists. Nobody else publishes this part.

permalink

comment on [Resolved] accused a vendor of a fake COA. i was wrong. correcting the record. in c/scamalerts · 6 points · 29 days ago

Agreed on the no-names rule. It protects the board and it protects people who turn out to be wrong.

permalink

comment on [PSA] a discount code in a first comment is an instant ban and here is why in c/scamalerts · 14 points · 1 months ago

The site had a decade of testimonials and a domain registered in March.

This is the check that catches most of it, and it takes under a minute.

permalink

comment on [Meta] the FLOW rule is doing its job and people should stop complaining in c/trialwatch · 1 points · 1 months ago

the confidence interval is the finding, the point estimate is the headline

permalink

comment on [Discussion] protein is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/glp1muscle · 26 points · 1 months ago

Small fix — that is fat-free mass, not muscle mass. The scan cannot separate them the way the post assumes.

permalink

comment on [Confirmed] site copied our own wiki text word for word to look legitimate in c/scamalerts · 14 points · 1 months ago

if the price is impossible, the material is the thing being economised on

permalink

comment on my ferritin moved and I cannot work out whether hair loss is why in c/sideeffects · 242 points · 1 months ago

The effect on gastric emptying is most pronounced early and attenuates with continued dosing, which is the mechanism behind the "it settles at a stable dose" pattern the whole board reports.

permalink

comment on does incretin actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/glp1science · 480 points · 1 months ago

receptor distribution is why the side effects are where they are

permalink

comment on what would you tell week-1 you about fatigue in c/sideeffects · 5 points · 2 months ago

if it is severe or persistent that is a clinician question, not a board question

permalink

comment on what would you tell week-1 you about fatigue in c/sideeffects · 42 points · 2 months ago

Agreed. Slowing down at meals did more for my nausea than everything I bought to fix it, which was embarrassing to discover.

permalink

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about hazard ratio is guesswork in c/trialwatch · 2 points · 2 months ago

a mean is not a promise

This is the distinction that would end about half the arguments on this board.

permalink

comment on three years of pharmacology threads, summarised so you do not have to read them in c/glp1science · 2 points · 2 months ago

Started reading limitations sections first. It has changed how much weight I give to almost everything posted here.

permalink

comment on regret — my 19-week log, condensed into one table in c/darkspot · 7 points · 2 months ago

somebody will read this at the point you were at, and it will help

Agreed — and being harder on yourself than you would be on somebody else posting the same thing is the pattern here.

permalink

comment on week 73 check-in — 28kg down, early fullness manageable, one thing confusing me in c/sideeffects · 44 points · 2 months ago

Kept a one-line-a-day log for two months. The pattern was obvious on paper and invisible in my head.

permalink

comment on does SELECT actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/trialwatch · 236 points · 2 months ago

The press release said that; the publication says something more hedged. Worth reading both.

permalink

comment on genuine question about lost money that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/darkspot · 0 points · 2 months ago

Not convinced that was avoidable. Some of this is genuinely bad luck and treating everything as a lesson is its own trap.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] TRIUMPH is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/trialwatch · 41 points · 2 months ago

Cardiovascular outcome trials are powered for events, not for weight, and are typically run in a different population with different inclusion criteria. Reading a weight number out of one is reading a secondary endpoint.

permalink

comment on how much of what we believe about DEXA actually comes from sarcopenia threads in c/glp1muscle · 15 points · 2 months ago

Resistance training, and at what frequency?

permalink

comment on genuine question about sulphur burps that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/sideeffects · 12 points · 2 months ago

Constipation is mostly reduced intake plus reduced fluid, not a direct effect. That is why the boring fibre and water answer keeps working.

permalink

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about what went wrong is guesswork in c/darkspot · 8 points · 2 months ago

That was a hold rather than a loss, and it resolved. Updating rather than deleting.

permalink

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about what went wrong is guesswork in c/darkspot · 0 points · 3 months ago

Correcting myself: 2 weeks, not the figure I wrote. The story is the same and I had rounded it in my favour.

permalink

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about what went wrong is guesswork in c/darkspot · 63 points · 3 months ago

coming back to say you were wrong takes more than being right did

permalink

comment on [Discussion] the lean mass advice in here is 3 years out of date in c/glp1muscle · 92 points · 3 months ago

Fat-free mass index is a ratio of fat-free mass to height squared. It moves when either term does, which makes it awkward to interpret during active weight change.

permalink

comment on [Question] endpoint — what am I missing here in c/trialwatch · 1 points · 3 months ago

That is the 68-week readout, not the 72-week one. Different trial, different duration.
