comment on [Data] two DEXA scans a year — lean mass held at 92% while fat mass halved in c/glp1muscle · 0 points · 2 days ago

Small fix — that is fat-free mass, not muscle mass. The scan cannot separate them the way the post assumes.

assay method matters, especially between different labs

comment on [Question] eGFR dropped 8 points during rapid loss, should i worry in c/bloodwork · 1 points · 4 days ago

Reference intervals are typically the central 95% of a reference population. By construction one person in twenty falls outside one on any given test without anything being wrong.

Took a baseline the week before starting purely because this board told me to. Best five minutes I have spent on this.

comment on [Question] does anyone have the special authorisation criteria in writing in c/glp1canada · 7 points · 5 days ago

Is there a quantity limit involved rather than a coverage refusal?

comment on [Results] 47 weeks, 8kg, and ferritin was the hard part in c/bloodwork · 15 points · 25 days ago

weight loss itself moves several of these independently

comment on [Discussion] protein is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/glp1muscle · -24 points · 1 months ago

lean mass loss during weight loss is expected, the question is how much

comment on [Discussion] protein is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/glp1muscle · 4 points · 1 months ago

Careful, that is a nutrition prescription aimed at another member and this board does not do those.

comment on does resistance training actually matter or is it forum lore at this point in c/glp1muscle · 1 points · 1 months ago

Correction: those scans are from different machines, and the difference you are describing is within the measurement error.

a single ALT outside range is a reason to repeat, not to panic

Same DEXA machine both times?

comment on [Discussion] the FFMI advice in here is 3 years out of date in c/glp1muscle · 65 points · 1 months ago

FFMI is a ratio and it moves when either term moves

comment on Canada is the most under-discussed thing on this board in c/glp1canada · 74 points · 1 months ago

Special authorization is a documented exception process with published criteria. Applications that answer those criteria explicitly, point by point, fare better than general clinical narratives.

ApoB is the one worth adding if you only add one

comment on help me understand special authorization, I have read the wiki twice in c/glp1canada · 0 points · 2 months ago

I would not read one pharmacy’s cash price as the going rate. The spread is real.

ApoB is the one worth adding if you only add one

comment on how much of what we believe about private plan actually comes from Canada threads in c/glp1canada · 247 points · 4 months ago

That is an employer plan process, and the provincial route is different in both form and timeline.

permalink

comment on why does nobody talk about baseline labs in c/bloodwork · 38 points · 5 months ago

Fasting or not, and what time of day?

permalink

comment on is it normal to get reflux at week 68 in c/glp1muscle · 9 points · 9 months ago

Resistance training, and at what frequency?

permalink

comment on [Results] 51 weeks on 1.7mg, full numbers, ask me anything boring in c/bloodwork · 79 points · 11 months ago

Added ApoB to the panel after a thread here. It told me something the standard lipid panel had been hiding.

comment on [PSA] lean mass is not what most of this community thinks it is in c/glp1muscle · 21 points · 11 months ago

Push back: strength dropping in a deficit is not the same as lean mass loss. Related, not identical.

Employer-sponsored plans have their own criteria and appeal processes, independent of the provincial formulary. Which one applies determines everything about the route.

Nobody here can interpret your panel and this comment is not doing so. What a board can usefully do is help you ask better questions of somebody who can.

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify DEXA in c/glp1muscle · 1 points · 1 year ago

This.

Disagreeing with this line: rate alone does not preserve lean mass. The training does.

Disagree with reading anything into that. One value, one morning, and you changed two other things in the same window.

Disagree — that is your province’s formulary position and it does not carry to another.

Cosigning on quantity limits. They stop as many people as outright denials do and get discussed far less.
