[PSA] struggle is not what most of this community thinks it is
struggle is not what most of this community thinks it is. Two minutes of reading now saves an argument later. Weighing under consistent conditions — same time, same state, same scale — removes most of the apparent variability people find distressing. Nothing on this board is medical advice, and rate, target and…
Rate of change is not a virtue. Slower trajectories are as durable as fast ones and are considerably better represented on this board than the front page suggests.
Nobody has to post a starting weight, and comments demanding one get removed.
Correction: 25kg over 9 months is a different claim from 25kg in a month, and the post reads as the second.
How are you keeping track — spreadsheet, notebook, nothing?
Wrote down one non-scale thing every week. Reading a year of those back was more affecting than any number.
waist is the measurement that keeps moving during a scale stall
the first person to notice was me, months after it started
36kg over 15 months and honestly the most useful marker was that stairs stopped being a decision.
Nobody has to post a starting weight, and comments demanding one get removed.
Agreed — measurements over photographs, every time, for anybody trying to actually track something.
Why this board is text only, since new members ask every week.
A photograph invites comparison on things nobody can control — lighting, posture, where you carry weight, what you looked like before any of this. Text invites description of what changed for you: the jacket, the stairs, the measurement, the month it took.
The result is a board where the posts are about people’s actual experience rather than about images, and where nobody is competing on the wrong axis. It was a deliberate choice, it has been challenged periodically, and every time it has been kept.
Stopped reading the fastest posts here for a month and my mood improved considerably.
a milestone is whatever you decide it is
Yes. Clothes fitting differently arrives well before the scale acknowledges anything.
Push back on the goal number. You chose it before you knew what any of this felt like.
