does New Zealand actually matter or is it forum lore at this point

Discussion Cold Box ×5

does New Zealand actually matter or is it forum lore at this point. I would rather ask a basic question now than get this wrong quietly for two months.

Kept the script and the receipt for a private health claim and both were requested.

Someone posted US advice in an Australian thread and it took four replies to untangle it. Say your country.

The two decisions that this whole board turns on, kept apart.

Registration means a product may lawfully be supplied. Subsidy listing means the public system will fund it, for a defined indication, against published criteria. They are made by different bodies on different timetables, and a product can be registered and unsubsidised for a given use for a long time.

Almost every "why can I not get this" thread here is really a question about the second decision being answered with facts about the first. Say which one you are asking about and the thread resolves in two replies.

Please do not ask me what dose you should be on. I genuinely do not know and neither does anyone else here.

Registration by the therapeutic goods regulator establishes that a product may be supplied. Subsidy listing is a separate decision about public funding, with its own criteria and its own timetable.

Disagreeing with this bit: that advice predates the change in compounded arrangements.

Pharmacy-level availability and national supply are different questions: a pharmacy can be out while the wholesaler is not, and the pharmacist can check in minutes.

the shortage listing has an expected resolution date on it

Personal importation provisions exist, are narrow, and carry conditions. Any summary of them here should be checked against the current official wording rather than a forum post.

What did the pharmacy quote for the private price?

PBS-subsidised or private script?

a streamlined authority code is not the same as a general listing

Read the published criteria for my indication rather than asking. Twenty minutes, and it answered everything I had been guessing at.

Agreed — the database rather than the coverage, every time.

Agreed. Registration and subsidy are separate decisions and half the confusion here is treating them as one.

Are you quoting advice from before the compounded arrangements changed?

Adding the quickest step — ask the pharmacist to check the wholesaler.

I would not treat one pharmacy’s quote as the national price. Variation between them is substantial.

Not convinced. That is the New Zealand position and the thread is asking about Australia.

Disagree — that is registration status, and the question was about subsidy. Different decisions, different bodies.

say which state only if it matters, but always say which country

Which indication is the script written for?

replysharereportpermalink
u/adnan_sandvik6 points·9 months ago

This. New Zealand has its own regulator and its own funding decisions and the answers genuinely differ.

Is this about registration or about subsidy?
