comment on [Baseline] get these before you start, you cannot go back for them later in c/bloodwork · 45 points · 1 days ago

Compared two draws across two labs and spent a week worrying before finding out the assays were different.

This. Reference ranges are population intervals, not targets, and conflating them causes a lot of unnecessary alarm here.

comment on [Paper] receptor distribution and why the GI effects were predictable in c/glp1science · 9 points · 5 days ago

Read the primary paper after arguing about the summary for a fortnight. The discussion section said almost the opposite of what the thread had concluded.

That is a non-fasting value and the interval you are comparing it against is a fasting one.

comment on £18 USB logger settled a three-week argument in thirty seconds in c/coldchain · 25 points · 7 days ago

Careful. "The cold chain failed" is a strong claim and the evidence you have is a warm box.

comment on why does GIP agonism seem to reduce nausea rather than add to it in c/glp1science · 58 points · 8 days ago

Disagree. That is a preclinical finding in a rodent model and you are stating it as human pharmacology.

Right, and reading the actual supply notice rather than the coverage of it saves a fortnight of speculation.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own arrangements. An answer that begins with "in England" should say so, and most of the confusion here comes from answers that do not.

comment on [Question] reconstituted vial left out for five hours — bin it or not in c/coldchain · 8 points · 14 days ago

What was the packaging — rigid outer, gel packs, anything insulating?

permalink

comment on [Failure] vendor packed a cold box with no thermal mass. just foam and hope. in c/coldchain · 15 points · 16 days ago

You cannot infer potency from a temperature record. The record tells you what happened to the box; only a test tells you what happened to the material.

comment on anyone else notice regain kicking in around week 20 in c/tapering · 17 points · 21 days ago

Push back: that is a taper schedule aimed at another member and this board does not host those.

comment on [Discussion] personal import is doing more work than we give it credit for in c/customs · 11 points · 1 months ago

Clearance took four days and the carrier took eleven. I had been blaming entirely the wrong stage for a year.

GIP is the arm people argue about because the biology is genuinely unsettled

You cannot infer potency from a temperature record. The record tells you what happened to the box; only a test tells you what happened to the material.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] we are measuring half-life at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/glp1science · 5 points · 1 months ago

Correction: that is glucose-dependent insulin secretion, which is why hypoglycaemia risk is low as monotherapy. Not the same claim as you made.

preclinical is not clinical and rodents are not small people

What was the exposure in that experiment relative to therapeutic?

permalink

comment on how much of what we believe about tier 3 actually comes from NHS threads in c/glp1uk · 19 points · 1 months ago

tier 3 waiting lists are measured in years, not months

permalink

comment on [Discussion] we are measuring A1c at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/bloodwork · 29 points · 1 months ago

Time of day, fasting state, hydration and recent exercise all move common markers. Standardising the draw conditions is free and it removes most of the apparent variability.

Glucose-dependent insulin secretion is why hypoglycaemia risk is low as monotherapy: the effect scales with glycaemia rather than acting unconditionally.

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about lipids are guesswork in c/bloodwork · 1 points · 2 months ago

Nobody here can interpret your panel and this comment is not doing so. What a board can usefully do is help you ask better questions of somebody who can.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] the pricing advice in here is 2 years out of date in c/glp1uk · 83 points · 2 months ago

Concentrations can differ between products and between pharmacies. Switching mid-titration means redoing the arithmetic rather than carrying the old unit count across.

comment on the excursion thing finally clicked for me and I want to write it down in c/coldchain · 2 points · 2 months ago

Gel pack fully liquid on arrival, powder tested 98.3% against a claimed 98.0% afterwards. The pack had done its job for as long as it was designed to.

permalink

comment on [Question] incretin — what am I missing here in c/glp1science · 1 points · 3 months ago

Yes. The central component is the one that explains the reports on this site better than gastric emptying does.

GIP is the arm people argue about because the biology is genuinely unsettled

permalink

comment on genuine question about stability that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/coldchain · 97 points · 3 months ago

Not convinced. A warm pack on day six is expected behaviour from a pack designed for four.

permalink

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify pharmacology in c/glp1science · 51 points · 3 months ago

Small fix — it slows gastric emptying, it does not halt it, and the distinction matters for the mechanism you are proposing.

permalink

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about UK is guesswork in c/glp1uk · -28 points · 4 months ago

Careful, that pricing figure is a headline offer with conditions attached rather than the actual monthly cost.

Yes — the consultation that asks nothing tells you what kind of service it is.
