comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about ice pack until somebody posts a number in c/coldchain · 1 points · 1 year ago

if you want to know, log it, otherwise you are guessing

Right, and clearance time is not carrier time. Blaming the shipper for a customs queue is a category error.

Put a logger in three consecutive orders. Two never went above the range at all and the third spent four hours warm on a Friday. Cost me almost nothing to stop wondering.

daily dosing, not weekly, so the exposure profile is different

regional stock removes the question entirely

I would not round that figure. At 2.5mg/mL a rounding error of two units is a real fraction of the intended amount.

Disagree with the "more water is safer" framing. It is not safer, it is just a different number to divide by.

bacteriostatic water has the preservative, sterile water does not

comment on Sweden: excursion, and what it actually costs here in c/coldchain · 35 points · 1 year ago

A transit temperature logger records a distribution, and time above a threshold matters as much as peak temperature. That is the argument for logging rather than guessing.

Asked SSA which lines they hold regionally and got a straight list back. That answered my summer ordering question completely.

Right, and asking what the stability statement was written against is one line of email that reframes everything.

comment on [Question] reconstitution — what am I missing here in c/reconstitution · 18 points · 1 year ago

The arithmetic in full: concentration is mass over volume, so 5mg into 1mL gives 5mg/mL. A U-100 syringe is graduated at 100 units per millilitre, so 2mg is 2 divided by 5 millilitres, which is 40 units.

Research-use-only labelling is a description of intended use, not a customs classification. It does not by itself determine how anything is treated at a border.

Small fix — those rules apply to commercial import. Personal import is governed separately and more narrowly.

A private prescription is an independent route: it does not affect NHS list position, and it is not a step in the same pathway.

That is sterile water, not bacteriostatic. Same appearance, different product, and it matters for a multi-draw vial.

Is that from the publication or the press release?

Because it is not a peptide, it is not subject to the same degradation pathways, does not require the absorption enhancers used for oral peptides, and can be formulated as a conventional tablet.

Is that a U-100 syringe? The barrel markings change the answer completely.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about MHRA until somebody posts a number in c/glp1uk · 75 points · 1 year ago

Disagree. That is the pathway in one ICB and it does not generalise even to the next one over.

permalink

comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about MHRA until somebody posts a number in c/glp1uk · 186 points · 1 year ago

Same. My ICB threshold was different from the neighbouring one and nobody could tell me why.

Agreed on the swirl. There is no reason to shake it and a good reason not to.

personal import rules are not the same as commercial import rules

Once in solution, the relevant risks are hydrolysis, aggregation and, for some sequences, oxidation. Refrigeration slows all three; freezing a solution introduces a separate risk at the ice interface.

Ordered from the warehouse in Spain and the whole import question disappeared. 13 days, domestic, no notice, nothing to manage.

A stability statement is only meaningful with its conditions attached: temperature, duration, light exposure, and whether it covers powder or solution. Ask which.

Bacteriostatic water contains benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which is what makes repeated entry into the same vial reasonable. Plain sterile water has no preservative.

comment on [Results] 70 weeks on 2.4mg, full numbers, ask me anything boring in c/orforglipron · 1 points · 1 year ago

Correction: that is the oral peptide product, which is a different thing entirely. This one is a small molecule.

Milligram-for-milligram comparison with an injectable peptide is not meaningful and I should not have made it.

The scheme cap in Ireland was the single most useful thing I learned in a year of reading this board.

Cosigning the regional stock point. Ordering from a warehouse in Poland took the whole question off my table.

permalink

comment on [Vendor] GGPeps order #16 — Ireland, 13 days, no drama, receipts inside in c/coldchain · 161 points · 2 years ago

Regional stock changes the question rather than answering it: shorter lanes mean less exposure and fewer variables, which is why the warehouse question is worth asking before ordering in summer.

permalink

comment on personal import — 12 things I got wrong before I got it right in c/customs · 66 points · 2 years ago

Where a supplier holds regional stock, the shipment is domestic and there is no import event at all. That is the structural fix rather than a workaround.

permalink

ask which lines are held in regional stock before you order in July

permalink

comment on [Discussion] we are measuring mg/mL at the wrong time and calling it noise in c/reconstitution · 51 points · 2 years ago

Not quite. Bacteriostatic and sterile water are not interchangeable for a multi-draw vial, and the difference is the preservative.

Gel packs are designed for a duty cycle. A liquid pack at the end of a longer-than-expected transit is a pack behaving as specified, not evidence of an excursion in the vial.
