comment on [PSA] a vendor-supplied COA is a marketing document until someone else agrees with it in c/vendorvetting · 3 points · 11 days ago

Independent testing is worth more than a supplied certificate for one structural reason: the chain of custody. A member who buys, ships and pays is testing the same thing you would receive.

Agreed that the published criteria are the authority. They are searchable and most people never look.

Personal importation provisions exist, are narrow, and carry conditions. Any summary of them here should be checked against the current official wording rather than a forum post.

comment on [Meta] the 503A rule is doing its job and people should stop complaining in c/compounding · 2 points · 1 months ago

The shortage list is the legal hinge: the permissions that allow certain compounding to happen at scale are tied to a drug’s shortage status, which changes.

The wider-market rows in the directory carry a band and a report count and nothing else, deliberately. Anything more would be manufacturing precision that the evidence does not support.

Checked the shortage database myself instead of reading the coverage. Expected resolution date was right there and the panic thread was wrong.

I would separate documentation from logistics.

Would qualify this slightly. Fewer entries means less sampling, and less sampling is not the same as a worse process.

Small fix — 503B facilities register with the regulator; 503A pharmacies are licensed by the state board. Different mechanisms.

Swiss Chems shows up in threads constantly and has almost nothing on file

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify testing in c/vendorvetting · 18 points · 5 months ago

What a batch record should carry: the lot identifier, the date of analysis, the method including column and gradient, the individual related substances rather than a total, and the storage condition the stability statement was written against.

Salt form matters for mass: a preparation specified as one salt and dosed as the free base gives you a different amount of peptide for the same number on the label.

Not convinced by the ranking-by-vibe approach here. The community number is derived from reports; your feeling is derived from four posts you remember.

Right, and the concentration genuinely can differ from the branded product, which breaks people’s arithmetic.

A 503A pharmacy compounds for an identified patient against a prescription. A 503B outsourcing facility registers with the regulator, may produce without patient-specific prescriptions, and is subject to current good manufacturing practice requirements. The two are governed differently and the difference is not cosmetic.

Nothing in this thread is medical advice, and the choice between arrangements is one for you and a prescriber who knows your history.

Did the lot code on the vial match the paperwork?

That reads as a recommendation and the source pages deliberately are not. They are a record you use to make your own decision.

Correction: that supplier is in the documented twenty with a source page, not in the wider-market table. Different evidence bases entirely.

Correcting myself: the compounded position changed and my earlier comment was describing the old one.

Careful, personal importation provisions are narrow and specific and the general version circulating here is wrong.

Where a supplier holds regional stock, ask which lines are actually held there rather than drop-shipped. It changes the lead time and it changes the customs question.

comment on [Lab] HJ tirz — Janoshik came back 97.8% against a claimed 97.0% in c/vendorvetting · 40 points · 1 year ago

Regional stock made more difference to my planning than anything else — ordering from a warehouse in Denmark took the customs question off the table entirely.

Cosigning the beyond-use date question. What it is based on tells you whether anybody has done stability work.

permalink

comment on [Question] testing — what am I missing here in c/vendorvetting · 89 points · 2 years ago

Asked TFC for the batch record on a Tuesday and had the full document, batch and method line, before the end of the day. That is the bar now.

Sent the same compound from CPC and FGP to Janoshik in the same month. Both came back above the claim on the certificate — mine was 99.6% on a stated 99.0%.

Is that from the source page log or from memory?

permalink

comment on [PSA] PeptideMeter is not what most of this community thinks it is in c/vendorvetting · 4 points · 2 years ago

Agree. The verification log is the part with the checkable facts in it; the number at the top is just a summary of a lot of averaging.
