comment on [Medutest] split one vial across two services, results within 0.9% in c/labresults · 5 points · 12 days ago

Not convinced by the comparison. Different services, different gradients, and you are treating one as ground truth.

Yes — describe the sequence of events with dates. That is a report. Adjectives are not.

Correcting my own post: the payment date was the 14th, not the 4th. The gap is smaller than I made it sound.

Nearly paid a cloned storefront. Caught it because one character in the domain was wrong and I paste rather than type.

Pharmacy-level availability and national supply are different questions: a pharmacy can be out while the wholesaler is not, and the pharmacist can check in minutes.

That is a report count, not a test count, and it changes how thin the evidence base actually is.

comment on [Pattern] the fake-testing-service scam is getting better and that worries me in c/scamalerts · 12 points · 22 days ago

Never name an individual. The sidebar rule exists because the cost of being wrong falls on a person and the benefit of being right falls on nobody in particular.

Small fix — the name you are describing is in the wider-market table with almost nothing on file, not in the documented twenty.

Domain age, registrar and certificate issuance date are all public and take about a minute to check. A site claiming years of history on a months-old domain is the cheapest signal available.

comment on [Janoshik] GL Biochem raw material vs a reseller vial of the same compound in c/labresults · 8 points · 27 days ago

Careful with the trend claim. Four results over two years is a very sparse series to draw a line through.

comment on [PeptideMeter] ERP tirz 15mg — 98.4% and a very clean trace in c/labresults · 1 points · 1 months ago

Tested three lots over a year rather than three vials from one lot. Cost the same and told me something completely different.

comment on [Confirmed] site copied our own wiki text word for word to look legitimate in c/scamalerts · 7 points · 1 months ago

Asked a new shop for a batch-specific certificate before ordering. The reply was a generic catalogue page. I did not order.

What did the pharmacy quote for the private price?

permalink

if the price is impossible, the material is the thing being economised on

comment on [Discussion] the PDF metadata advice in here is 2 years out of date in c/scamalerts · 143 points · 4 months ago

Cosigning the domain check. Character by character, every time, and paste it rather than typing it.

permalink

comment on unpopular opinion: most of what gets said here about cloned site is guesswork in c/scamalerts · 1 points · 5 months ago

A report is useful here when it carries dates, the exact domain, what was requested, what arrived and what did not. Everything else is atmosphere.

the pattern repeats because it works, not because people are stupid

comment on [Lab] 9th independent test on QSC — 98.2% on a claimed 98.0%, and the trend is the interesting part in c/scamalerts · 31 points · 6 months ago

Disagree with naming anyone on that basis. One person’s bad month is not a pattern and the sidebar exists for this exact reason.

Careful. What you are describing is a delayed shipment, and this board should not turn that into an accusation without more.

comment on [Lab] split one vial across VendorInvestigate and PeptideMeter — 99.1% and 96.8% in c/labresults · 29 points · 7 months ago

Correcting myself: I quoted net peptide content against somebody else’s area percent. Not a comparison.

permalink

comment on [Lab] split one vial across VendorInvestigate and PeptideMeter — 99.1% and 96.8% in c/labresults · 75 points · 7 months ago

Sent a vial in specifically to check a supplier’s claim after a good experience. It matched. Boring result, worth logging.

comment on Medutest — 16 things I got wrong before I got it right in c/labresults · 17 points · 7 months ago

Correction: that is the claimed figure, and the measured one is the higher of the two in your own screenshot.

comment on three years of below spec threads, summarised so you do not have to read them in c/labresults · 5 points · 8 months ago

A series across separate lots estimates a process. Repeat tests on one lot estimate the measurement. Both are useful and they answer different questions.

comment on [Discussion] can we stop arguing about New Zealand until somebody posts a number in c/glp1aus · 2 points · 9 months ago

Did the pharmacy check with the wholesaler, or is that a shelf observation?

permalink

comment on [Question] the UK — has anyone got a straight answer on New Zealand in c/glp1aus · 4 points · 10 months ago

Kept the script and the receipt for a private health claim and both were requested.

Adding the quickest step — ask the pharmacist to check the wholesaler.

inter-lab variance runs a point or two, plan your outrage accordingly

permalink

comment on [Lab] WXT BPC — PeptideMeter came back 97.2% against a claimed 97.0% in c/labresults · 21 points · 1 year ago

Inter-lab variance on this assay runs roughly a point either way, driven mostly by gradient and integration. Two results inside that band agree; they do not disagree quietly.

permalink

comment on [Lab] WXT BPC — PeptideMeter came back 97.2% against a claimed 97.0% in c/labresults · 79 points · 1 year ago

if you are going to test, test the thing you actually received

comment on [Lab] WXT BPC — PeptideMeter came back 97.2% against a claimed 97.0% in c/labresults · 25 points · 1 year ago

Split one vial between PeptideMeter and VendorInvestigate. The two numbers were within half a point of each other and I stopped worrying about which lab to trust.

Same. Private pricing varies here as much as anywhere and people assume it is fixed.

permalink

comment on [Question] how do you actually verify test results in c/labresults · 445 points · 1 year ago

Chain of custody is why member-funded testing is worth more than a supplied certificate: the vial tested is the vial that arrived at a member’s door.

The compounded arrangements changed while I was mid-thread and I was arguing from a superseded position.

Adding the practical version: buy small from anyone new, test it, then decide.

Right, and the group-buy structure is the underrated risk here. One person holds everything and there is no recourse designed in.
