comment on [Meta] proposal — a flair for identity posts in c/researchpeptides · 74 points · 10 months ago

Asked for identity confirmation on an unusual line and got a mass spectrum with the theoretical mass alongside. That is the answer I now look for everywhere.

Yes. Writing 10mg/mL on the vial takes four seconds and removes the entire class of error this board exists to fix.

That method was developed for a different compound class and would not resolve the impurities you are asking about.

The ranking functions are published: the hot ordering combines score magnitude with age, and the controversial ordering weights total volume by the balance between up and down votes. Both are reproducible from the numbers on each submission.

Push back on the advice above: nobody here can tell a member what dose to take, however confidently it is phrased.

do not assume the concentration matches the branded product

Started reconstituting everything to a round concentration and the six-in-the-morning error rate went to zero.

Did the clothes change before the number did for you too?

comment on [PSA] units are not what most of this community thinks it is in c/reconstitution · 105 points · 1 year ago

Disagree with the "more water is safer" framing. It is not safer, it is just a different number to divide by.

comment on genuine question about units that I am slightly embarrassed to ask in c/reconstitution · 3 points · 1 year ago

Adding more water does not change how much peptide is in the vial. It changes the concentration, which changes the volume you draw for the same amount. That is the entire relationship.

aim the stream at the glass wall, not at the cake

comment on what changed for me between month 11 and month 20 in c/t2dglp1 · 107 points · 1 year ago

Continuous monitoring shows the shape: postprandial excursions, overnight behaviour and time in range. Two people with identical A1c can have very different distributions.

comment on units — 21 things I got wrong before I got it right in c/reconstitution · 419 points · 1 year ago

If your calculation produces a fraction of a unit, the concentration is wrong for your dose. Change the water volume until the numbers land on whole units.

Right — the volume you add is the only variable you control here, and the cake does not change it meaningfully.

Are you accounting for the powder volume, or is that where the confusion is?

10mg into 3mL is 3.33mg/mL, and 1mg of that is 30 units

Is that a U-100 syringe? The barrel markings change the answer completely.

comment on [PSA] T2D is not what most of this community thinks it is in c/t2dglp1 · 43 points · 1 year ago

Correction: that trial is the diabetes programme and the figure you quoted is its glycaemic endpoint, not a weight result.

Certain conditions affect A1c independently of glycaemia. If a result looks inconsistent with the sensor data, that is a question for whoever manages your care rather than for this board.

That is not what patient-specific means. It refers to the prescription, not to a customisation of the formula.

mateusz_adebayo is right about the concentration trap. It breaks arithmetic that has been reliable for months.

Storage guidance that names a temperature, a state and a duration reflects actual stability work. Generic guidance usually reflects a template.

Small fix — insulin secretion in this class is glucose-dependent, which is precisely why the risk you describe comes from the other agent.

comment on am I the only one who found amylin harder than the injections in c/cagrilintide · 95 points · 2 years ago

Independent purity data on this compound is sparse compared with the older molecules, simply because far fewer members have paid for testing. Sparse data means wide uncertainty, not a verdict.

The dead space question sent me down a rabbit hole for a week. It is a fraction of a unit and it is the same every draw.
